Rework slayer points earned post-rework

31 March 2020 - 11:27 AM

What's up guys, back with yet another suggestion haha

This time, it's about the Slayer Shop rewards. After the rework went live, all prices in the shop were cut by 1/4, and to match that so were the slayer points we had at the time. There is 0 problem with this - it was balanced, and made complete sense.

However, post-rework we lost the 2 primary ways of gaining slayer points. these 2 methods were streaking elite tasks, and getting slayer points upon each slayer assignment kill.

With the removal of these 2 methods, getting the required slayer points for some of these items will take a LONG TIME.

Using Nieve, from a 0 task streak, and assuming you have 0 points, it'd take roughly 80 tasks to get the points required for the Imbuement Scroll. Prior to the update, it took maybe 50 tasks.

My suggestion-

Reduce the costs of these rewards. 80 tasks for one reward is a bit nuts.

            or

Re-implement slayer points per kill, but lower this so it's 1 point every 5 kills. This will keep it so it takes about 25 tasks as it previously did, but it won't allow people with stockpiled points to buy a ton of high-end rewards and flood the market with them.

Thanks,

Chuck

Donator Zone Slayer "Dungeon"

30 March 2020 - 07:02 PM

Slayer is definitely one of the most popular skills in the game- and since the rework, a TON of the common slayer monsters have been packed.

This is pretty annoying for everyone, and discourages some from doing slayer - so, I think a solution would be a Nightmare-Zone style Slayer Instance.

To elaborate, this system would be similar to the nightmare zone in OSRS, but instead you pay a set amount, per hour, to fill your instance with whatever slayer monster you choose.

To balance this out, it needs to be somewhat pricey, I was thinking baseline 3m, then the donator instance discount would come into play after that.

This has lots of benefits, for one, it encourages people to donate. It's a great money sink, and it lessens toxicity from people crashing at slayer training spots. The only con I can think of, is that it'd be very afk and some people would afk train there for a long time, but I think with the instance price, it would discourage that a lot.

The NPC could be found near the slayer master in the Donator Zone, and you can just ask to open an instance. From there, he'll ask which NPC you'd like in your instance, and when you select that, you are then asked to pay 3m for the hour.

I think the instance should hold 6-8 of the requested monster, that all spawn near the middle and are aggressive.

Other options are non-aggressive instances for 1.5m an hour, or a donator only slayer zone with a lot of common monsters with no entry fee.

I think using the Nightmare Zone instance would be perfect for this due to its size, and what the overall idea is.

Implement a few of the construction teleports

30 March 2020 - 08:27 AM

Sup Alora

Recently got into construction, and spent some time making a portal room with scrying pool, and spiritual tree + fairy ring, only to find out they dont work.

Would be awesome if these things could be added, just for QoL and because they make the house look better haha.

However, I do understand that if these things are added, there could in turn be slightly less people at home, and given it is a RSPS, you want home to be populated, so all good if not. I don't think it would make THAT much of an impact, considering the teleport wizard has almost every teleport available on him, but there's definitely some niche teleports that he doesn't have that you can reach through spirit tree, fairy ring, and scrying pool portals.

Thanks!

Pet Insurance Ticket

27 March 2020 - 08:35 AM

Sup guys, I got an idea for a Pet Insurance Ticket that can be purchased on a normal account, and given to an Iron Man (Similar to how vote book is transferred ). Coins on Iron modes are harder to come across, so I think the best way to balance this out would be to make this ticket 15m as opposed to the 10m it would regularly costs.

Pros : I can insure my house pet before i plank at cerb again

          Gold sink

          thats it

Cons : Nerds complaining that its "Easy mode" and "just go abby demons with ring of wealth for an hour "

Thanks,

Chuck

Daily Quests need to be re-worked to be a true daily system.

03 March 2020 - 10:44 PM

Hey guys, since I've joined Alora a few weeks ago one thing has really stuck out to me - the daily quest system is not as "daily" as it should be.

What I mean by this is that a daily quest is supposed to be something that can be done in a small window of playtime so you can continue to play other aspects of the game but feel as though your time was well spent.

Alora's daily system is pretty flawed when looking at it from this viewpoint - with a few exceptions.

Most games that introduce dailies do one of two things , they either build the daily system around the only piece of content you do, so it's passively earned, OR they send you on a small mission to do something out of your way.

Here's a few examples:

Apex Legends- Deal damage with a shotgun - Easy enough, just pick up a shotgun and continue to play the way you want

WoW- Go to this zone that IS out of your way , but only spend 5-10 minutes completing the objective

Runescape 3 - Go to runespan and siphon this thing for 5 minutes. Go to rune goldberg machine and play a little puzzle for 3 minutes

This list can go on and on , but I won't continue because I think that should get the point across. So, the problem now, is what can be done to fix Alora's daily quest system without completely revamping it? There's 2 solutions I've thought of

Solution 1 - Lower the amount of things needed to do to complete the daily quest. For example, completing FIVE raids is indeed a HARD task, but it's more time consuming than anything, that's at least a 2.5 hour daily! So this one should be lowered to ONE raid completion , because the task itself is HARD, the hard part shouldn't be the time invested.

Solution 2 - Add a daily, bi-daily, and weekly quest system to replace the current system. This, in my eyes, is a very fair solution that would open the window for many more fun and interesting tasks to be done. For example - Daily: Complete 2 Hard Slayer tasks /  Bi-Daily : Kill the giant mole 30 times / Weekly : Complete 5 raids

Now, I don't want to sit here and bash the entirety of the system, because it absolutely does have some great ideas and potential to be a fun system that everyone can benefit from. Some of the tasks are challenging, but simple, such as dealing 65 damage in one hit. Some of the easier tasks are how a task should be, such as fletching 100 bows from scratch. These are a few examples of tasks that can lead to a great system that is rewarding and fun to do every day that you play Alora.

So, the TL;DR is that the system needs to become more "Daily", with tasks that can be completed in a shorter time, but still have a level of difficulty to them that make them challenging enough for the reward. The system shows potential, but does need some love put into it to get where it should be.

Any feedback would be appreciated, because this is something I think the game seriously needs, also, if you guys have a solution, feel free to drop it in the comments, I'd love to read it!
