My Problem with Staff 4

 

Alora staff have once again ruined my gaming experience.  

This time my League 4 account was banned in less than 24 hours.  

I lost my $10 (alora bond) and all the time I spent making progress towards competing for the "1st to..." league prizes.

 

Here's how it all happened...

 

When League 4 was announced, I asked the community for name suggestions...

 

 

Here are some of my top recommendations

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As a result, I decided to opt with...

 

I trained real hard, donated $10, voted everywhere I could, and even stayed up 2 hrs past my bed time.  

 

 

Only to find out that the next morning (within 24 hours) ...

I had been banned!  

 

Staff could have just offered me a free name change ticket (or at the very least, provided me with a rule # that was broken)

Instead, they insta-banned me.  For what?  Doesn't say!

 

The exact same username on OSRS would have been completely fine.

Imagine 'ruck ash' or 'ruck mark'.  Literally, no one would care...

This is how Alora staff treat their players and donators.   

 

They take the game way too seriously and start power tripping over the smallest things.

Like daddy chill.

It's a role playing game.  Stop wasting player's time and ruining the gaming experience.

 

I'm tired of writing these appeals that get insta-shot down.

 

Just FYI, here's what the rules actually say

No where in the rules, does it say anything about disrespectful account names towards staff.

As long as it doesn't include disrespectful language towards race, belief system, ethics, or sexual orientation -> It's allowed.

Besides, I didn't use the words "To" or "Gain" in my league name.  

And "ruck" isn't even a bad word.  It can mean a whole bunch of things.  

If someone wants to interpret it as the F word, that's not my problem.  

 

 

 

Special shout out to @Cheda who heard my story and generously donated a $10 bond to help me out with a new start.

Lmfao I dont think "Ruck to gain" is trying to impersonate staff. If he did "Mod to gain" that would be impersonating. Extremely fucking soft on staff part

You're allowed to do that!  Even in real life.  If the police punish you, they're just further justifying your point.

This is exactly the problem with staff logic that i'm talking about

Staff think they're above everyone else and should be respected.

Respect is earned.  

In this case, the disrespect is equally earned (as evidenced in parts 1, 2, and 3). 

Just because someone says fk you, doesnt mean you get to jail them or ban them.  

Lighten up a little.

Freedom of expression. 

You interpret it however you want.  It's just a name.

Although I agree this could break rules on either staff disrespect or impersonation (a rule that clearly is outdated in how it’s handled), and even though we know Alan possibly knows the rules, given the fact that he donated he should have AT LEAST been given the opportunity to change his name before a ban on a limited time game mode that’s very competitive (especially for players like him). Losing a full day of progress basically knocks him out of any chance to get the prizes provide.

The 2 players on this thread just tag teaming are throwing stones while living in a glass house, plenty of players are aware of their true character behind the keyboard.

As far as staff impersonation, I agree it’s a completely over used rule. Unless the player openly attempts to say they are whatever staff member their name may resemble, and reported in by a player, I don’t see why these staff members are allowed to lock down names that are even similar to their in game names. Of course this is something current management most likely won’t even bother considering changing, doesn’t change the fact that it’s a dumb take.

Oh and can you imagine the issues it could cause Omicron if Alan decided to do a charge back? Since he essentially just lost $10 because reaching out and asking him to change his name was just too much of a bother. Not saying Alan would or should, but these are consequences staff should consider before just handing out bans

Although this may be against game rules, and due to the broad rules & freedom for interpretation by staff members - Alan does deserve some form of punishment according to the rules.

I do not agree that this should be against game rules but it seems to be.

What I don't think is reasonable is a permanent ban for this especially at the beginning of leagues on a leagues account. Perhaps a forced name change and/or temp mute would be justified.

Perhaps the staff intended this as part of a series of increasingly harsh punishments for Alan to deter behaviour they don't like.

None of which have worked to date so maybe a different approach like letting the man exist and express himself within reason while the rest of us just live our lives and play the game.

Being cringe isn't criminal, and some random on the internet saying ruck you shouldn't cause any emotional turmoil as a grown man.

That's where we respectfully disagree.  The game maker Omicron should be respected.  He built this.

The admins that log in everyday and play this game religiously like it's their life job?  Those guys need to lighten up a little.  

You're a volunteer hall monitor on a RSPS.  You haven't done anything to earn my respect just by wearing a silly little silver, gold, or green crown in chat box.

I don't need to treat you like you're my king...

 

At the very least, the line between what's acceptable and not acceptable in player names needs to be more clear.

Please tell me exactly where that line is so I can metaphorically stand 1 tile away and point my middle fingers...

Anyway, I think we all know what you were trying to do when creating the account BUT personally I think IF anything it deserved a name change and maybe a little slap on the wrist for disrespect. At the end of the day, allowed names like "Autism" or something about "down syndrome" etc is allowed (I even made a report, and it got denied). Flaming/Disrespecting staff isn't cool but also feel like this could have been handled better than a ban. I honestly see it from both sides so hopefully a reversal and a name change come out of this!

Question 4 u: If disrespecting staff isn't cool, are you suggesting that respecting staff is cool?  

 

Because...

I'd argue that simping for staff doesn't earn you much respect either.   

 

Instead...

Using your own brain, formulating logical decisions, and providing good costumer/player support earns you respect.  

 

You don't have to be on the Alora staff team to do those things.  

Judging from the quality of his response, Krest is already doing a better job than current staff members like U.

You don't just get to make up special rules for punishing specific people.

Everyone is tried under the same rules.   

 

 

Making unwritten rule exceptions for specific players is unfair and abuse of power.

I have never been warned of an inappropriate in-game name before.  

Therefore, this is not a repeat offense.

This is incorrect. Just because this is the first time you broke 1 rule doesnt mean that any previous rule breakings aren't considered in punishment.

 

You are correct, this is not a repeat offense, but you are a repeat offender.
