Hello everyone,
We are back with another update — one that is long overdue! Today’s update contains an enormous number of bug fixes and QoL, along with our Overhauled Mobile client with RuneLite plugins and major performance upgrades to run more smoothly on your mobile devices, and we even managed to sneak in a few FPS improvements on the desktop client.
Next on the list, but no less exciting, we’ve got Tormented Demons, which bring a host of new rewards for you to obtain — once you master their combat mechanics, of course. You’ll be able to obtain four new weapons, each with unique mechanics: Burning Claws, Emberlight, Scorching Bow and the Purging Staff
Aside from these updates, the Friendly Forester has been added to make Woodcutting more interesting, and you can trade him your Anima-infused bark for a number of rewards. We’ve got plenty more, but we’ll let you browse through the rest of the update notes below.
We’re already working on the next batch of updates, and we’ll be ensuring that they are released on a more consistent schedule, so you’ll see some smaller updates being released more regularly in the next few months. We’ve got some really cool content on the way, which we’ll share more details about soon :)
- Mobile Overhaul:
- Performance Improvements:
- We’ve spent a lot of time optimizing the mobile client so that it can run as smoothly as possible. This means that not only will your FPS be better (2x-3x in many cases), but even if you were getting great FPS your phone will not generate as much heat, and battery life will drain more slowly.
- Technical:
- For those of you who are more tech-savvy, we essentially implemented multi-threaded rendering, allowing the client to use all of your device’s cores rather than just using one.
[*]RuneLite Plugins:
- We previewed this one awhile ago, but felt it wasn’t ready until we improved performance enough to handle it, and that we had enough plugins for a solid release. We’ve now reached that point, with the following 16 plugins already available today (and more to come), nearly 1:1 with the same plugins on RuneLite:
- Agility:
- Highlight obstacles, shortcuts, traps and more — along with displaying how many laps you’ve completed (and your laps per hour rate).
- Barrows:
- Show each brothers’ location on the minimap, keep track of which brothers you’ve killed, and show the value of the loot chest.
- Chat Filter:
- Filter out unwanted messages and hide news/clan icons.
- Chat History:
- Retain chat history on logout & clear chat history whenever you desire.
- Clue Scroll:
- Makes completing clue scrolls much easier, with hint arrows, overlay with instructions, world map location and more.
- Dark Mode:
- Taken from the Resource Packs plugin, we’ve adapted the Dark Mode interface style for mobile! This is unique to Alora and doesn’t exist anywhere else.
- Fishing:
- Highlight fishing spots & keep track of fish caught per hour.
- Herbiboar:
- Highlights starting rocks, trails and the 2 objects to search at the end of each trail.
- Implings:
- Highlight nearby implings on the minimap and on-screen, as well as be configured to send a notification when selected implings come into view.
- Menu Entry Swapper:
- A feature that is highly request even on OSRS, this will allow you to prioritize which menu options pop up first. For example, if an NPC has "Talk-to" and "Pickpocket" as the first and second options, you can make "Pickpocket" come first and single-tap the NPC to thieve from it.
- Puzzle Solver:
- Shows you where to click to solve puzzle boxes.
- Raid Layouts:
- The scout overlay will show you the layout of the raid, so you can decide whether to continue or leave and create a new raid.
- Status Bars:
- Draws status bars next to players currently open tab showing current HP & Prayer.
- Tile Indicators
- Allows users indicate the current tile they are standing on, as well as their destination tile. You can also change the colors, highlights and transparency of both tiles.
- Woodcutting:
- The plugin will show whether or not you are woodcutting, your total logs cut, and your logs cut per hour — as well as a respawn timer for trees that have been chopped.
- XP Tracker:
- When added to your canvas, XP tracker overlays can display the following information about each skill in which you have gained XP this session, including:
- Time to Level, Total XP gained, XP per hour, XP remaining, Actions left, Actions per hour, Actions completed
[*]Bug fixes:
- There are too many to list, but we’ve fixed many crashes, or errors where the UI would go missing or players would be invisible.
[*]Other changes:
- The Mobile settings fps dropdown now has an option to limit FPS to 60.
- This will avoid rendering more frames than necessary for phones that have a refresh rate of > 60Hz.
- The hitching on Chrome browsers on android devices has been drastically reduced.
- This issue was particularly prevalent when opening any kind of interface, such as the bank/login screen/tabs/etc…
- We plan to work more on improving this even further for Android users in the future.
- Vivaldi browser can also be used, which doesn’t seem to cause any hitching.
- This issue was particularly prevalent when opening any kind of interface, such as the bank/login screen/tabs/etc…
- Increased max possible render distance on mobile to 30 tiles. (From 25)
- Keyboard now opens up more quickly.

- Website updates:
- Increased forum award limit from 45 to 60
- Decreased size of displayed awards from 23x23 to 21x21

- Tormented Demons:
- Players can now access Tormented demons by heading to the Tears of Guthix area, using the nearby shortcut, and speaking to the Light creature to be transported to their lair.
- Players can also use the Guthixian Temple Teleport scroll to get to the lair directly.
- Mechanics:
- Tormented demons have a fire shield throughout most of the fight, which will reduce damage from non-demonbane/abyssal weapons and spells by 20%.
- The Tormented demon will occasionally drop this shield and weaken itself, when it is first attacked, and during each fire bomb attack.
- The weakened state of the demon allows players to deal full damage to it, and gain extra attack speed/damage based on their weapon, for a short period of time.
- The increased attack speed/damage can be seen in this table:
[*]Tormented demons are similar to Demonic Gorillas, and will always attack with one style, while also praying against an attack style.
- Changing attack styles:
- Every 60 game ticks or so, the demon will launch a fire bomb attack that ensnares the player/disables run momentarily, and then change it’s attack style to one that it was not previously using.
- These fire bombs must be avoided, otherwise they will hit the player for a lot of damage.
[*]Changing overhead prayers:
- Every 150 health lost, the tormented demon will change it’s overhead prayer to protect against the attack style it was just hit with.
- This includes damage from thralls, which may be beneficial to players if used correctly.

[*]Multi-combat Mechanics:
- Some of the area is multi-combat, while other areas are single-combat.
- The main with Tormented demons is that players in single-combat areas can choose to target and attack more than 1 demon at a time.
- Players will not be able to pj your Tormented demon in single-combat areas, and only one demon will target you at a time if you don’t wish to attack multiple demons at once.
[*]Rewards:
- Burning Claw:
- This is a rare drop from Tormented demons that can be combine with another burning claw to make the Burning claws.
- Burning claws are a weapon similar to dragon claws, requiring 60 attack to equip.
- These claws provide a 5% increase in accuracy/damage to demonic creatures.
- They also have a special attack similar to dragon claws that can a lot of damage and inflict a burning effect on the target.
- The burning effect will deal 1 damage to the target every 4 ticks until 10 damage has been dealt.
- The claws only have a chance to inflict the burning effect, and will not do see every time the special attack is used.
- More details can be found here: https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Burning_claws#Special_attack

[*]Tormented Synapse:
- The tormented synapse can be used to create one of three weapons:
- Note: none of the following weapons can be dismantled once they’ve been made.
- Emberlight:
- This can be created by combining the synapse with a fully charged arclight, requiring 74 smithing to do so.
- The emberlight is a sword that requires level 77 attack to equip, and works as a better arclight variant, which does not require any charges to use.
- The ember light also has a special attack, Drain, which reduces the stats of demons by 15% (rather than the arclight’s 10% reduction).
[*]Purging Staff:
- This can be created by combining a Tormented synapse with a battle staff, requiring 74 crafting and 55 smithing to do so.
- The staff requires 77 magic and 50 attack to wield, and is able to autocast offence arceuus spells.
- The staff also has a passive effect that doubles the bonus damage of demonbane spells (including when mark of darkness is activated).
- The staff also has a 10% magic damage bonus, and a special attack, which uses 25% special attack energy, and can only be used against demonic creatures.
- When the special attack is used, it will use the best demonbane spell that the player can cast at their level, and the next attack will occur 3 ticks sooner.
[*]Scorching Bow:
- The scorching bow can be made by combining the tormented synapse with a magic longbow (u), requiring 74 fletching to do so, and 77 ranged to wield.
- The bow can fire up to dragon arrows, and has a 30% accuracy/damage bonus against demonic creatures.
- This boost is applied additively with the slayer helmet 15% damage boost, leading to a 45% increase on a slayer task.
- The bow also has a special attack, which uses 25% special attack energy.
- The special attack increases accuracy by 30%, binding demons for 12 seconds and dealing 1 burn damage in the process.
- It will also deal another 4 burn damage over the course of 2.4 seconds, triggering every 4 ticks.
- This special attack can only be used against demonic creatures.

[*]Five new combat achievements have also been added for players to complete
- These can be found in the “Other” monster section of the combat achievements.
[*]Desktop Client FPS improvements:
- The desktop client has undergone some changes to improve the FPS rate for players who using the GPU/117HD plugin.
- This change will primarily affect players who were already able to get FPS rates above 50, since it works by reducing the refresh rate of the UI, and only re-drawing the game scene.
- Players can fine-tune control of this feature in the Alora Client Setting splugin on Runelite, and change the UI refresh rate as they please.
- A value of 0 will match the UI refresh rate to that of your monitor (if possible), and players can increase this value of up to 40, meaning the UI refreshes every 40 milliseconds.
[*]We suggest messing around with this setting to see what works best for you.
[*]Crafting Interface Update:
- The jewellery crafting interface has been updated to a more modern version.
- This new interface features the ability to craft zenyte jewellery, slayer rings, and “make” amount buttons.
- This means that the old way of crafting zenyte jewellery (using a zenyte shard on a piece of onyx jewellery) is no longer valid.
- Players must now use a zenyte shard on a cut or uncut onyx, and then use a cut zenyte to make their preferred jewellery.
- This will also need to be enchanted through the regular spellbook.

[*]Woodcutting Changes:
- Friendly Forester:
- The friendly forested has appeared by campfires in Draynor village, Seers’ village, and Prifddinas.
- Players can speak to him to view his wares, or disable receiving Anima-infused bark.
- He sells a variety of items which can be purchased with Anima-infused bark.
- Anima-infused bark will be obtained passively while woodcutting, with higher level trees giving more bark.
- He sells the following items:
- Funky Shaped Log - 15,000 Anima-infused bark:
- This can be fed to a beaver pet, which allows it to be transformed into other beaver pet variants.
- Players can use most types of logs on their beaver pet to transform it into a slightly different beaver variant.
- The friendly forested has appeared by campfires in Draynor village, Seers’ village, and Prifddinas.
- Fox-Whistle - 500 Anima-infused bark:

- This also works while the open basket is equipped.
- Players can only withdraw the logs at the bank.

[*]Trees can now be chopped for twice as long as previously.
[*]Players can now chop the same tree without leading to it being chopped down faster.
- It will now be chopped down at the exact same rate, regardless of how many players are chopping it.
[*]Ghommal’s Lucky Penny Changes:

[*]The setting can be found in the advanced settings interface, under the gameplay settings tab.
[*]This setting will NOT prevent skulling from other situations, such as the ::skull command, opening supply chests/bloody chests, equipping an amulet of avarice/cape of skulls, etc…
- It is only meant to prevent players from accidentally skulling by attacking another player, with an exception for Skotizo in the wilderness, since attacking it will skull a player without warning.
[*]New "Combat options" interface:
- The equipped weapon interface has been updated to display detailed information about Special attacks (on hover), as well as the Category of the item.
