It would allow people to defensively retaliate without the fear of being skull tricked in multi
Imagine if your group of 3 gets hit by a pair of pkers while you guys are doing callisto (unskulled).
Enemy1 barrages you (skulls up), so you retaliate by barraging him back (initially unskulled)
Your barrage ends up hitting both Enemy1(skulled) & Enemy2 (not in combat), so now you're also skulled because Enemy2 was hit by your barrage.
This means you'll lose an additional 3 items that you weren't anticipating to lose (possibly 4 if you get smited).
Adding the Pk skull prevention setting would fix this and make antipking a little bit safer.
Imagine...
Protect 4 Items: elysian, elidinis ward, soulreaper, voidwaker
Repurchase-able Untradebles: fighter torso, barrows gloves, ice ancient sceptre, avernic defender, infernal capes, mage capes, seed pod, rune pouch
Risked items: range ammo (morrigan axe/javelins), mage sacks, strength amulet, black d'hide chaps, helm of neitiznot, climbing boots, mystic robes, ring of recoil
Perks:
1. high str bonus relative to risk - potential for high hits
2. soulreaper axe - enemy will pray melee in melee distance, ability to heal with the spec (healing with brews prevents casting veng), you can't spec tab anymore but you can axe-n-tab
3. voidwaker - to counter the pray melee, enemy will pray mage
4. fakie voidwaker/soulreaper then use the other - enemy will want to avoid staying in melee range - increases chance of escape via gapping
5. morrigan range weapons - take advantage of wilderness weapons
6. vengeance - antistack potential
7. spellbook swap - ability to switch to ancients (barrage) or normie (teleblock)
8. ice ancient sceptre - extends ice barrage duration by 3 ticks, more wiggle room for timing freeze escapes
9. ely / crystal shield - gear tanking range/melee + pray mage
10. elidinis ward - increase mage potential
11. seeds - can switch out seed pod for adamant seeds and amulet of strength for glory teleport
TLDR:
Non-skullers in the wilderness won't have to worry about getting skull tricked and losing their gear when they're fighting back to escape.
This suggested change would really benefit pvmers by increasing their defensive capabilities and boosting their escape potential.
You know what they say, the best defense is a good offense.
High damage potential, low risk -> discourages attacks from pkers
