Problem:

Cross-game-mode items aren't available on Realism TP -> forcing realism players to sell their GP for normie GP (or buy on the Realism TP at scam prices)

 

Cross-game-mode items

vote books / instance tokens / boosters / bonds / rank tickets / name change tickets

 

What is your suggestion?:

 

Allow Realism players to purchase cross-game-mode items from the trading post at half price

 

How?

 

Automatically list cross-game-mode items from the normie trading post on the realism trading post at half price 

 

Buyer pays with Realism GP -> Trading post does the 1:2 conversion -> then the seller receives payment in Normie GP 

 

This is similar to how the TP buys out certain items using the taxes collected, only this time the TP is serving as a fair currency exchange.

How would this benefit Alora?:

Realism players play on a separate eco with a different set of rules such as slower xp rates and half the GP from caskets.

As a result, GP is exchanged between ecos at a 1:2 rate.

 

Currently, Realism players need to swap their GP to normie (with players) to buy these cross-game-mode items because many of these items are not available on the Realism TP.  

 

While there are some cross-game-modes items on the Realism TP like vote books, drop boosters, and bonds, often times they're listed at or close to Normie prices -> essentially ripping Realism players off and profiting off arbitrage

 

 

This change would help Realism players buy cross-game-mode items to rank up/level up without constantly being ripped off. 

 

This change would also benefit the Normie economy by introducing more players into the market (increasing demand and speeding up sales), while keeping the unique Realism economy intact.

 

So why aren't cross-game-mode items available on the Realism TP?

There aren't enough players looking to exchange their USD for Realism gp/gear -> why not?

 

1st potential reason - Because buying of GIM/EIM banks is allowed.

The people that would have listed bonds/rank tickets for sale on Realism end up selling their stuff on the Normie TP for Normie GP to buy ironman banks, rather than on the Realism TP for Realism GP to buy Realism gear.

2nd potential reason - Because gambling is done on Normie.  Gambling addicts treat Alora like a casino and convert USD to normie GP (via selling cross-game-mode items on the normie TP) to gamble with.  Gambling on Realism isn't as big.  

3rd potential reason - Because there are simply more Realism players looking to buy these cross-game-mode items than players looking to sell.

Would this create GP inflation on Normie?

No.  The game does a 1/2 GP reduction when opening caskets on Realism, so converting the realism GP to normie GP (2x) via the TP is netting 0 and not changing anything.

I'm neutral about this. I think if you choose to play the game mode with a slower eco, that's your choice. But at the same time, I also feel Realism could just be merged entirely since it seems a lot of Realism people want that.

Support. Forcing realism players to buy account items like bonds, rank tickets and vote books exclusively from realism players seems like overkill. I can understand having your own item economy, but things that affect rank etc should be server wide, same way u can use bonds on an ironman by using them from a normal.

The irony at finest first when other item prices are in trading post overly overpriced you say "supply and demand" and now you complain that something is overpriced that's little bit funny. But yeah just merge the realism economy with normal game mode, please.

You and the majority of Realism players have argued over the years that the Realism eco should be kept separate from the rest of the server. To be clear: I have supported this position since the very beginning. Realism should be its own distinct game mode and not just a low-xp normal mode, and the core mechanic of the game mode should not be changed just to appease/encourage mainly those who do not even play it.

 

However, you have to take the bad with the good. If you have fewer Realism players selling votes, bonds, boosters, etc., then you will be paying a premium on those items compared to the normal eco. Sorry if you feel like you're "constantly being ripped off". Why are you complaining these items on the Realism TP are listed at "scam prices"? You yourself have said: "No one is being forced to buy from the TP at outrageous prices. The items on the TP are meant to be on the high end like a vending machine."

 

The cherry on top is listing GIM/EIM banks as the number one potential reason for lack of sellers on the Realism TP. Lol. Lmao, even.

Nobody wants that besides realism players that don't do high level pvm like phanny and slaze (the bank buyer).

They want realism merged so they can buy the endgame gear (that they refuse to do the content for themselves) cheaper.

If you merge realism, you allow pvm items to flood in from ironman dupes and ultimate mystery boxes.

This ruins the supply and demand of realism where a realism player must do the content for pvm drops.   

Imagine if you pvmed for hundreds of hours to get tumekens shadow or avernic hilt on realism.  But... Now when you're trying to sell the shadow, you aren't getting compensated for the hundreds of hours of time you put in because the price has plummeted due to influx on of supply from ironman dupes and items spawned out of a mystery boxes.  

This is why merging realism is bad idea.  

 

As for cross game mode items -> they can cross game modes back and forth -> therefor the supply and demand is not unique to realism like a realism tumeken's shadow is for example.

Yeah, now that I've started to play Realism myself, seeing it's tight-knit community and economy keeps the game mode unique. Plus because of a lot of these reasons you mentioned. I now don't think I would vote to merge realism.
