Reward bug reporters that contribute to a game improvement

 

Suggested Rewards

1. vote book

2. boosters drop/pet/clue/gauntlet/raid

3. instance tokens

4. shop tokens

 

 

Is this in OSRS?:

No, but we reward player for taking time out of their day to vote for the server.

It's only fair that we also reward players that take time out of their day to make bug reports.

Very good idea , im surprised it has not been implemented yet.

If u do a bug report with an actual mechanics bug or gamebreaking bug or something that should be fixed , it would be great if the person was rewarded because then alot of people would report in such bugs.

No support, as you've stated multiple times most bug reports are dupes so are we just going to reward everyone for dupe bug reports? and then people just share bugs with each other to get rewards? If its the first person to report the bug then ppl are just going to be discouraged as you are and not report bugs because they are just dupe reports anyways.

I'm Neutral on this.

 

I do like the thought of providing some incentive for reporting, however, that shouldn't be the case. We report bugs to collectively help improve the server (at least that's my personal view)

 

It would really be case-by-case, depending on the size and impact of the bug. I'm sure there a usually multiple bug report dupes as well.

 

There also already is a small incentive such as forum awards:

• You must have have reported at least 3 bugs.

• You must have have reported at least 10 bugs.

So do you guys (non-supporters) acknowledge dupe reports to be a problem?  

 

If dupe reports are not problematic & useful to the server (as administrator H has previous stated in reply #12), then the server should reward players who help the server by taking time out of their busy days to make dupe reports.

I wouldn't mind rewarding players that consistently report bugs to make the server better, rather than paying players for every single little bug they report.

At the end of the day it's up to Omicron, but it would be a nice incentive for players.

i think it would be a great idea to give a little something to the players that takes their time to make a bug report.( there is nothing op in receiving a vb btw )

we are here to game but also help the server grow, if you guys think plp would abuse on ''bug report'', make it for a number of report/ or for the first 3-5 to report a

 

certain bug. i dont see any down side on helping the server and make plp consider  doing more bug reports for a small reward.after all, it is helping everybody.


it would be fun if always the same ''guys'' (mostly from paragon from what ive seen) , would stop to just ''farm'' post count and ''no support'' a suggestion based on the player and not the actual suggestion

I see no downside to this tbh. Like you highlighted, even H has said "The more the better". And I also agree that it could be a case by case basis as well. Or even any bug report that is submitted, then fixed. A few vote books isn't going to ruin the economy, nor make anyone richer than their wildest dreams. Guess with that said tho, it doesn't sound like the biggest incentive, however an incentive nonetheless.

I like the idea of players who submit consistent, substantive bug reports getting rewarded in the way Casual described. Because I sure am too lazy to do it with any regularity.

Reward could be store tokens since they should be easy to dispense and they're worthwhile for the player.

Just like the voting competition, where 5 winners are picked at random after reaching a certain votes per month, I think the same should be applied here to incentivise bug reporting.

I support getting some reward for every like 5 or 10 bigs you report that are not dupes. But being rewarded for each one would be excessive in my opinion.

It should be planned out, knowing how people are, they'd just abuse this for rewards.
