I have an odd question about drops in alora

if there are 2 drops both are exactly 1/1000 so in the droptable

Does the drop roll into the droptable and coinflip between the 2 drops or just 1/1000 individually that the 1/1000 drop table bracket is irrelevant ?

Pretty sure i didn't phrase it very well but im sure u understand what im asking.

The way I look at it is since there are 2 drops @ 1/1000. You have a 1/500 to hit that table, then it is a coin flip from there. I will explain further at the PVM seminar at this year's ALORA CON

I look @ it : like a roulette-wheel

& where - ever the balls lands = you hit That...prize/drop.

this makes the most sense

does that make sense?

In a way I get what you are saying. Like you still have a 1/1,000 chance that it could land where you want it to, but it may not even land on there after 1,000. That's why slot machines say "1 in every 1,000 is a winner" because they can't put the big payout is every 1/1,000 or people would be winning all the time if that was a guarantee, plus they have filler tier prizes to give you something in that 1,000. Scratch tickets say similar things "everyones a winner!" When you spent $5.00 to play and won $1.00... lol

Drops would be like 1/1,000 chance at a drop in that drop table but you may not get the big payout that you were hoping for. That's why there are other smaller "payouts" if you will to bridge the gaps in between.

There is no "RIP RNG" because you can get say like a back to back whip, back to back anything really, getting a D2H and then going dry isn't because of RNG, it's because you didn't hit that drop. Just depends on your luck when you get that drop in the drop table.

In the end, RNG means random number generator and it's just that, luck of the draw.

Here's how it works:

yes, pretty much..you can get b2b2b2b2b2b2b2 Dragon Warhammers.

just like you can choose number 28 on the roulette-wheel, and it  (the ball) can land 110x on it, in a row.

also, who ever wrote that oldschool wiki is a fucking idiot, everything written there is a fking Mess, hurts my brain to even start readin the sht-show thats written lol.

"When calculating a drop rate, divide the number of times you have gotten the certain item, by the total number of that monster that you have killed"

-----by this logic..what RNG, if i have to divide by some X-number, to get a Guarantee drop-

by this logic. there shouldnt be any b2b's..only 100% guaranteed drop, once you've killed a certain whatever, X-amount of time.

Also...Morgen is a Good example of Rng.

almost 20k dry on tanz helm from ZUlrah.

Yeah Morgen is a perfect example.

This is the part that I was referring to FYI;

All items have a chance of being dropped that is expressible as a number—their drop rate. In Old School RuneScape, drop rates are treated independently from one to the next; meaning no previous drops decrease or increase the drop rates for future kills.

Drop rates such as "1 in 5" do not guarantee such a drop will be obtained after 5 kills. Instead, it can be thought that on average, a player would receive the drop once per 5 kills, with the chance to receive more or less. While a player killing such a creature 30 times and not obtaining such a drop is unlikely, the players' chance of their next kill obtaining the drop remains the same.

While somewhat counter-intuitive, probability itself cannot be simply multiplied per drop. For example if one were to calculate the chance of receiving a drop at least once after 100 kills as 10%, it would not become 20% after 200 kills. If it was additive, then the chance after 1100 kills would be 110%, which is impossible as probabilities are always equal to or between 0 and 1.

= like in roulette...if you choose black, and ball lands on Black & you win, that doesnt mean its gonna be black the next bet,

"Drop rates such as "1 in 5" do not guarantee such a drop will be obtained after 5 kills"

= picking any number between 0/00 & 38, doesnt mean that at any time, the chose number will be the winner (ball land on the number).

yet, the number exist, and it's possibility that ball can land on it.

"While a player killing such a creature 30 times and not obtaining such a drop is unlikely, the players' chance of their next kill obtaining the drop remains the same."

= i.e. even if you fuck up and place your bet on the number 19 11.000x in a row, and it never land on number 19.

(which is unlikely)...it doesnt matter, because your chances of it landing on 19 , stays the same ..50-50 lol.

the rest is non-sense about some probablity bs.

idk, it's 50-50 apparently with each kill..

either you get it - or you dont.

simple
