Re-adjust Nightmare / Phosani Drop Rates

 

Is this in OSRS?:

 

No, but finding a team to do regular nightmare is much easier on OSRS than it is currently on Alora.

Even during bonuses it's difficult to find a nightmare team.

Players prefer to run phosani and fail to realize that massing regular nightmare yields drops at a much faster rate.

How would this benefit Alora?:

 

It's been 11 months since the last nightmare / phosani drop rate adjustment (4/20/22 - topic 78241)

 

Back when nightmare was new content, finding a team was significantly easier. 

Now, it's an absolute hassle.

 

The reward rate at nightmare and utility of drops is so low that most players can't justify the time investment.

 

This is why the nightmare rates need to be further adjusted on Alora.

 

At 8 minutes / phosani -> 813 phosani / expected orb drop -> each orb takes 4.51 days of constant playtime.

 

At 5 min / regular nightmare -> 487 nightmare / expected orb drop -> each orb takes 1.69 days of constant playtime.

 

Note - it takes a group of 4+ to make 5 min nightmares possible - something that is hard to pull off on a RSPS

 

Even if you could assemble a team, it's ridiculously hard to keep that team running.

Most times, teams don't even make it to the end of the server nightmare bonus.

 

As a result, I urge the community to consider rebalancing the time investment it takes for each nightmare drop.

At the very least, I hope to convince players to invest time into massing regular nightmare instead of solo-ing phosani.

If you don't need a parasitic egg, nightmare drops are much faster to obtain from massing regular nightmare.

Just check the math.

To be completely honest, I support.

 

Why? Because if you are doing a nm trip throughout the bonus for example, that lasts for 2.5 hours, then you would end up getting roughly 21-22 kills in Phosani and 37-38 kills on reg NM with a team of four.

 

Firstly, the team of four is hard to maintain throughout those 2.5 hours and it would take you 3 weeks (if killing only on bonus) to mathematically hit the gear table on regular nightmare, which is pretty demotivating.

 

I understand that it is a niche boss and the items are useless, but I do think that the better drop rates would be more appealing to newer playerbase as well, so they would be motivated to atleast give it a shot and if they're lucky, they may keep doing it.

I really dont get why everything needs to keep getting easier. Not every log needs to be completed in a few days of playtime.  And loot isnt nearly as bad as the rates say it is.

 

Once again, make the boss alot more accurate like on osrs before even considering touching loot rate. Thats what happend with tob, it became alot harder for a slight loot increase. If people actually need to pray flick to not die at nightmare/phosani, i'd understand. But now its just way to easy.

with the actual drop rates, i am never doing nightmare for sure. the time spent for the worthless items doesnt worth it

Because you're such a mathmatician I'll show my SUPPORT, this content is becoming more and more dead as the days go by and the item values are on a fast race to the bottom.

 

Also the reason players solo Phosani over normal is because anyone doing this is most likely an ironman wanting to finish the log, and if it takes 1.69 days as a 4 man that's about 6.76 days to get something in your name vs 4.51 days to get it solo.

 

I don't agree with having to make the content harder before buffing the rate, since these items can't be 'devalued' if they really aren't even useful in the majority of cases. Full inquisitor went from 1b a set to 600m in a matter of days and I wouldn't be shocked if it's even less now. Unless OSRS makes these items great again, which will be hard to match on Alora due to our combat system and boosts/def nerfs, I don't see any reason anyone does this other than collection log purposes. It's not like your zerker pking scene exists on here.

 

I know that adding more of these items into the game is NOT going to help their price, but at this point, nothing will. This is only so players have more of a reason to go since it'll be easier additions to their collection log.

 

Edit: After some clarification with Alan, it's about 1.69 days for ea individual player in a team of 4 to get a drop, which is way better than soloing Phosani. The real problem is not being able to get a team.

 

I'd 100% support better drop rates in Phosani for a solo player to match the time invested to a team of 4 in regular nightmare.

 

4 man regular nm:

orb ~1.67 days

armour piece ~8hrs

 

NEW Phosani solo:

orb ~1.67 days

armour piece ~8hrs

 

Realistically you aren't going to find a dedicated team of 4 to do it for days at a time all when bonus is on, so let it be soloable content for the same time investment.

Support, the drop rates dont justify how useless the items are, would be nice to see the orbs get fixed/buffed too.

Let's keep it honest here. Inquisitior has been outclassed by Torva in all regards. Even at NM itself.

NM staffs are outrageously expensive to the point where nobody is using them in the wilderness (their only practical use)

The harm staff has been outclassed by the Shadow, Voli is a magic version of the AGS that costs 40x more, the eldritch is an abomination. I will not explain Google it yourself.

At this point there's 3 reasons to defeat NM: to pray you hit the orb table and make a little gp, to get the mace, and to complete the log.

You can make more gp at nex/toa per EPH, ToB/Gauntlet have better odds to getting rapier/blade, and the log has only been completed by 1 maybe 2 people in YEARS.

Let's stop the gatekeeping and make this concent at least somewhat enjoyable to where we can get lower prices for orbs, the mace becomes a viable alternative, and some more people can finish this log (without selling their soul)

From a perspective of someone who hasn't started the nightmare grind yet.

There's 2 reasons as to why.

1) Skill/Gear issue.
2) Numerous people who I've spoken to have said nightmare isn't worth it with the current drop rates, unless you get spooned, which gives no real motivation to actually grind it.

I'd personally say a 15-25% increase would be nice! Support
