Lower Mimic pet rate

What is your suggestion?: To lower mimic pet rate to 1/128 (or discussion) since 1/2408 for a pet at a boss that u only have a 1/30 - 1/15 chance to fight (elite/master clues)

this idea to lower it this low comes from the same pet chance of skotizo thats obtained via chance at making totems

Rate is too absurdly high and im sure our mathematicians can figure out a more reasonable rate in obtaining it if 1/128 is too high/low

Support!  The current rate is absurd. im all for lowering it, but still keep it challenging like stated.

Pet was already too rare from daily reward pet box. No need to make it this rare from the boss imo.

support and strongly agree with @Ivy, once i seen that mimic was a potential reward from daily login, it deterred me from even wanting to attempt the mimic if you can just obtain the pet from logging in. Personally, i think they should all be deleted and only obtained from defeating the mimic as intended.

Support. That drop rate is just crazy given that you need to open elite/master caskets to even kill the Mimic. Also agreed to remove it from the Daily login rewards like @Ivy pointed out.

While we're at it, let's lower the rate of abyssal protector pet.

 

Last mimic pet was January 18th, 2023 (all 44 of them from pet boxes from daily login rewards)

 

Last abyssal protector pet was May 2nd, 2022 (all 7 obtained during first week of release.  then 0 for 9 months.)

 

Rewards like mimic pet and abyssal protector pet should be reasonable to obtain and consistent with RSPS rates.

They should motivate players to want to do the activity and not seem like insurmountable obstacles.

Wholeheartedly agree. Perhaps those that received the pets already can be given another roll for a different pet or something to that is determined to be of equal value.

Ok, let me rephrase.  

 

I support your suggestion to increase the rate of the treasure trails pet (mimic) as long as the same rationale is applied to the guardian of the rift pet (abyssal protector).  

 

Why?  

Rewards should motivate players to want to do the activity and not seem like insurmountable obstacles.

It's a consistency thing. 

 

Both pets are too rare.

0 legitimate mimic pets (all spawned from boxes, instead of defeating the mimic)

0 legitimate protector pets (all obtained when the drop rates were bugged.  after fixing the protector pet rates, we've had 0 in the last 9 months) 

 

Back when the 7 people got their protector pets, catalytic points in Guardian of the rift were bugged, essentially allowing players to get rolls at 2x speed.

 

Don't like my opinion?  Deal with it.

Agree with Alan. Mimic should be removed from the daily rewards and (IMO) removed from the accs of people who obtained it that way.

Support! 1/128 seems reasonable since if you only did masters (which is best odds for a mimic) that's still on average 1,920 master clues to hit the drop rate of pet. Which idk if any Alorian player has even done that many yet.

 

Current drop pet rate would be 36,120 master clues to hit, which sounds like you'd finish all 3rd age pieces a few times over before that. Considering it's this rare I also support removing the ez method of receiving through daily login and replacing it with an alternative pet or roll at a pet from the current log in streak.

 

Obv the 'ez method' is still stupid rng, but would be faster than completing 36k master clues

Feels like every time I do the math, someone comes around with...

 

"Alan stop complaining and trying to make the game easier"

"some pets are meant to be rare"

"its all rng.  you get it or you don't.  stop crying"

"we shouldn't make things easier than OSRS"

"you're devaluing the work of people who already have pets"

"the tp prices will blah blah blah"

"you can afk it though"

"there's no imbalance here"

 

So I'm just going to say it first  :D

 

@Itachi laid everything out for you. 

Look at the numbers and decide how much effort you would be willing to put in for the reward.

We don't need to be exactly like OSRS.

We need our drop rates to be convincing enough for RSPS players to want to invest their time for a chance at the reward. 

That's what will keep this game fun and convince players to keep coming back.

No problem, 1/128 just looks good, but averaging the pet to 1 in 1k master clues would be fair too imo, so 1,000/15 is roughly 67 mimics, so 1/67 (although it looks small) is imo still plenty fair, but we'll see what Omi responds

I'll make the rate 3x more likely, but 1/128 is too common for the pet, especially since it can also be obtained through daily rewards.
