Skilling Minigame Pet Boosts

What is your suggestion?:

 

For years, Alora has had a 15x skilling pet boost after maxing xp at 200m for unlucky players that still have yet to receive a pet.

I suggest adding a similar pet boost to skilling minigames (like Tempoross/GOTR) after a player has completing all other aspects of the respective minigame and still have not receive a pet.

 

For Tempoross -> that includes completing the log except pet and unlocking the blue heron upgrade for 3,000 pearls 

 

For Guardians of the Rift -> that includes completing the log except pet and unlocking the greatish (rift) guardian upgrade for 3,000 pearls

 

What's my logic?

 

Completing a minigame log except pet and obtaining 3,000 pearls for the respective recolor is the equivalent of maxing out 200m xp in a skill.  After that, additional pearls don't serve any purpose–just like additional xp after 200m.  For that reason, I think it makes sense to give players a boost to pet rates once they've maxed out.

 

It's the same concept as 15x boost after 200m xp but extended to the new skilling minigames.

 

The old concept came out before we had skilling minigames like Wintertodt, Zalcano, Tempoross, or Guardians of the Rift. 

 

Perhaps it's time we even the playing field.

 

Why not give unlucky players a pet boost after they've completed everything else?

RSPS grinds are meant to be slightly easier than OSRS after all.

I'm not sure what the OSRS boost for post 200m skilling pets is (probably not 15x like here but there is one). but they don't do it for minigame pets after certain kc or collection log slots. It doesnt make sense.

No support, Alora grind is already a lot easier than osrs due to lower rates on almost all items including pets. This would devalue the pets + the same logic can potenially apply to the other pets in the "Other" category (Smolcano, Younglef, Herbi), adding to devaluing of pets.

 

I'm fine with it being for the "Skilling" pets category since there's also something similar in osrs.

I'm fine with it being for the "Skilling" pets category since there's also something similar in osrs.
 

 

Could you elaborate on that?  Are you saying osrs has a skilling pet boost after 200m?

I understand the reasoning behind the thought, however I don’t think this is needed for the game.

As stated above, it is still fairly easy to achieve the pets (especially as some mini-games don’t work at full capacity compared to OSRS, at least from what I believe so) in addition we have ‘pet boosters’ that can aid in obtaining the pet.
I just don’t see any value being brought into the game and the time required to code such a sequence (assuming that it’s hard to implement this).

If this were to get approved, dare say you’ll have people asking for the same implementation for bosses.

As stated above, it is still fairly easy to achieve the pets



It's actually pretty busted right now. Take guardians of the rift, for example. On release, we had 14 pets enter the game during a week period between 4/23-5/2. Since then, there have been a grand total of 0 abyssal protectors. Furthermore, during that period, catalytic points were bugged, and players only needed to obtain elemental points to collect rolls. Now they need 1 elemental & 1 catalytic, which effectively double the time required per roll. Even with the newly added rift bonuses, the pet is still ridiculously rare. Personally, I'm 10k pearls in with 0 pet, so i'm probably the driest person at GOTR.

As for tempoross, there have been only 6 tiny tempor pets. 2 on release. 4 in 2022.

Personally, I'm 18k pearls in with 0 pet, so I would not consider it fairly easy to achieve.

No support, Omicron just added a GOTR/Tempoross bonus up to 30% which is in the new September bonus schedule.

 

Also I made a mistake it is not 15x, it is 15% pet-boost after 200M EXP.

I suppose that's improvement.  

 

Can you be more specific on what a 30% bonus is?  Are players getting 30% more points or are chances of uniques getting boosted by 1.3x?  

For example, turning on a 30% point boost for 2 hours barely helps anyone.

A perk like that should stay on for the entire day/weekend like bonus pc/barrows points, so players of all time zones can enjoy it.  

 

If it's a 30% increased chance of unique -> guess there's no point collecting rewards until a bonus is enabled -> time to start stocking points

 

Also, regardless of whether players are getting 30% more points or 30% greater chance at uniques in GOTR, it's still pointless if the pet rates are bugged.

Literally 0 pets since the GOTR fix, like 90 days ago. 

Personally, I've busted my ass at tempoross and GOTR, reporting bugs, dealing with broken pet boosters/game mechanics, broken drop mechanics... I even wrote the guide on Tempoross.    So please explain how someone like me could continue to justify a grind like this with, 'oh it's just RNG.'  Without questioning... are things actually working the way a RSPS is intended?

 

My point here is... 'The shutup, stop complaining, and blindly accept drop rates' mentality isn't always the solution.  If I never brought up issues like these, house pet would still be unobtainable from mahogany homes, and people would still be saying, 'it's do-able.  just get 200m.  stop trying to make everything easier, Alan.'

 

Basically, here's how the cycle works -> omi creates new skilling content -> Alan tests it out -> finds issues, problems, bugs -> reports them/makes suggestions for fix -> people that don't even try the content -> Oh, stop complaining and trying to make everything easier, Alan! 

 

By the way, going from 1 pet everyday or every other day (for 9 days), then going 0 pets for 90 days -> that's not just RNG

Any math guy would see the red flags.

Multiple people have busted there asses everywhere, how's Mack KQ Pet going? What about Morgens Mutagen hunt? Juls DWH Hunt? Extremedanny's Corp Pet? Hell I'm sitting at 200m Construction exp, hundreds of contracts done with pet boosters and no pet. Yet there was a HCGIM grabbing a pet at 0 exp (handing in a long/curved bone)

Because people disagree with your suggestion doesn't mean they're on a witch hunt to get you or you're wrong. It's simply their opinion. Understand not everyone will have aligned opinions.

30% gathering bonus?  Every player who received GOTR pet basically did it on 50% gathering points (with catalytic points not working). 

30% bonus for a few days a month -> big whoop!  still got 0 pets since rework 

 

Also, minigame drops are not treated like pvm drops -> it's easy for 1 bug to cause extreme dry streaks

 

A similar issue happened with Sang Orn kit from Hard Mode TOB.  It's supposed to be 50/50 between sang/holy ornament kit, but for the first month or so, only sang ornament kits were dropping -> only way you'll catch this bug is if you look at all the ornament kit drop history and wonder... do the results/outcome match what was expected?  Why do we have 6 sangs in a row and 0 holy kits? 

 

What's my point?  I might not be the only person testing hard mode tob during this period, but I was the player outspoken enough to finally sound the alarms. 

 

KQ -> simple pvm odds

Mutagen -> simple pvm odds

DWH -> simple pvm odds

Corp -> not simple pvm odds -> roughly ~420 kills for a roll at any sigil (simple pet odds, but drop rates were bugged on drop searcher) -> something we wouldn't have known had no one questioned why drop rates weren't lining up (@Extremedanny and I both know how frustrating this is)

House contracts -> at least you have a chance at obtaining pet from mahogany homes (thanks to me questioning why we had no house pets from 2/20/21 - 8/10/21 -> now we get a few house pets every month (and you can actually see the pattern returning to normal)

Tempoross -> 2 pets on first 2 days of release -> no more pets between 6/12/21 - 3/23/22 (when I did the majority of my tempoross testing) -> update happens -> 3 tiny tempor drops in last 6 months 

 

The guy who grabbed a house pet at 0 xp from exchanging curve bones?  -> this is only possible because I questioned why house pets had gone missing from 2/20/21-8/10/21 (matches up with release of mahogany homes/removal of marble incense burner meta) -> I suggested we add that perk despite people worrying 'oh it'll devalue house pets' -> why? -> pets have 0 trade value -> GTFO with this devaluing pets logic -> do the minigame and you'll realize the pet rates aren't lining up

 

I might not be the only one who tests content, but I'm pretty sure I'm the most outspoken and analytical.

 

It bugs me when people (who have not done the work testing) jump to conclusion, refuse to analyze results, and assume... no problems here... it's all just RNG.
