~The guide no one asked for, wanted, or needed~

Hello everyone, I just wanted to make a short guide on how to check your ping for Alora.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is Ping/Latency?

As most of you know, there is a wide variety of worlds to choose from on OSRS, each with their own respective server. Different servers can be hosted from just about anywhere, allowing players from every part of the globe to have a server (world) with potentially lower latency (otherwise referred to as ping). For those of you who do not know, latency in a nutshell is just the amount of time it takes from when you perform an action in game, to the time you get a response. For example, just clicking on the ground to move. You click 1 tile away, and it takes about 2 seconds for your character to begin moving. This response time is your latency. Latency and Ping are often considered the same thing. While similar, they are not identical.. but we're not going to get into that.

When playing Runescape, people often experience high ping in some worlds which may be hosted far away from your location. For example, I live in Florida, and I have terrible ping in Australian worlds on OSRS.

Higher ping = more delay. Lower ping = shorter delay

Now, all of that said, you can check your ping specific to each and every world on OSRS using your Command Prompt on your computer... But did you know you can do the same for Alora?

This may not be a very necessary tool, or one that's even utilized often, but it could prove useful anyone who may be experience lag spikes, or long delays to their actions in game, and they would like to rule out if it is server lag, or just their ping/latency.

From what I have been told, Alora has 3 different hosts, and you automatically connect to the one nearest to you.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1:

Begin by going to your search bar, and typing "Command Prompt"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 2:

Once your Command Prompt is open, just type "ping alora.io"

After doing so you should see something that looks like this (minus the blurred parts)

You will see your minimum, maximum, and average ping for Alora (at that time). Obviously this varies from person to person, as your ping is the amount of time it takes for your computer to send the input signal to the computer the server host is on, and then back... So distance plays a role in that.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know this guide will more than likely not be used often, if ever... but I just figured it is a good tool to have if ever needed by anyone.

Thank you for your time,

iZuk

It's worth noting that this only shows you the ping for your connection to the website, which is different than your connection to the game. It may provide a ballpark figure, but the number could be off by a significant amount depending on where you're connecting from. Nonetheless, this could be useful to some players, so good job on the write-up :)
