Hello everyone, welcome to this month's edition of the Alora Newspaper.

 

As always, we hope that all of you are doing well during these hectic times around the globe. We are inching ever closer to the public release of Runelite as we entered V3 of beta testing on the 31st of May. More information on beta testing can be found here or via the link under News & Updates.

 

Earlier this month we announced that a new PVM based event would be coming to Alora, the PVM League. Not much has been mentioned since the announcement post that can be found here. But rest assured, we have not forgotten about it. We've decided to wait to launch the PVM League with the public release of Runelite. More information on the event itself and a more accurate date will be coming soon so stay tuned!

Promotions:
Adex has been promoted to Forum Moderator.
11 has been promoted to Server Support.
Classic has been promoted to Server Support.

Resignations:
Kharyrll has resigned from Administrator.
Fiji has resigned from Server Moderator.

 

May 9th, 2020

Promotions:
TenFour has been promoted to Global Moderator.
Elite has been promoted to Forum Moderator.
NOT TROTZ has been promoted to Server Moderator.

Name changes/Secondary Ranks:
elite yin has changed his name to Elite.
Stone has added a secondary rank to Army.
NOT TROTZ has added a secondary rank to Trotz.
arcadus has changed his name to Aritus and added a secondary rank to Chestplate.

Resignations:
Hellish has resigned from Administrator.
Vape Tricks has resigned from Server Moderator.
Miya has resigned from Server Moderator.

This month we will be interviewing: Swaggydabzzz, Cwars, and Open Casket.

 

Let's start off with Swaggydabzzz...

 

gim deathkid: I heard Cloud9 offered you a contract to play as their new ADC. Can you give us some insight on this?

Swaggydabzzz: Yes, I was originally offered the ADC spot on Cloud9s roster assuming I would join and play with Vulcan but they had something else in mind. They were going to make me duo lane with @Gonansson as my support instead of joining the roster with Vulcan and I decided to decline the offer due to not wanting to lane with a feeder.

 

gim deathkid: What are your favorite activities to do on Alora?

Swaggydabzzz: I recently made an EIM and have been enjoying the ironman game mode since. The only problem I seem to keep having is that I don't know where my partner went.

 

gim deathkid: How did you go about coming up with your username?

Swaggydabzzz: I came up with this name ages ago, back in the days of MW2 lobbies on xbox360. My original name was going to be TurboDiesel but it was taken.

gim deathkid: How have you managed to play and stay interested for so long?

Cwars: Well to be fair I started playing Alora in 2017 and took a break until early 2020 where I came back again and have been playing a ton ever since.

I would say for me personally I need to have goals, both short term, and long term to keep myself motivated. Like when I came back I instantly maxed out and went onto working towards all quests/diaries with a long-term goal of getting the Monkey.
Now that I have the Monkey and achieved all the goals I first set when I came back I work on getting 4,6B exp for the Trimmed Monkey with a side goal of 1000 Theatre of Blood killcount.

 

gim deathkid: What made you get into making signatures for Alora players?

Cwars: I started messing around with a free-to-use program called "Pixlr" and made a few ones for free to some buddies and opened a "GFX Store" after a few people mentioned that they wanted to buy art for their forum avatar/signatures.
So naturally when I came back to Alora, I again started to mess around with Pixlr and it has become quite a success. I have 2 people who won my Hide & Seek competitions so I have avatars & signatures to make for them then I will plan more Avatar/Signature giveaways in the future.

 

gim deathkid: How did your Alora career start?

Cwars: I have been playing RuneScape since 2007 and it has always been my main game. The game just fits me and I managed to achieve the Trimmed Completionist Cape on RS3 alongside a lot of end game stuff and got to a point where I didn't know what I wanted to do anymore. So I decided to jump back on here to see if any familiar faces from 2017 still played.
To my surprise, a lot of them did and a lot of people I never met recognized me and welcomed me back with open arms so I thought "Why not start playing again?".

And here I am grinding every day towards my goals. Playing with both new and old faces enjoying every single day on here.

 

Last but not least, Open Casket.

 

gim deathkid: What interests you the most about the realism game mode? Why did you choose this game mode when setting up your clue-only account?

Open Casket: For me, the most interesting thing about the Realism game mode is the XP, I’ve managed to max the normal, normal iron and UIM game modes, so I thought it was time to challenge myself and max a realism account, the separate economy and also just how friendly Realism is as a community can be enough to make anyone want to try this, a great challenge with good people!   Initially, I had tried the idea with a Hardcore Ironman, and while I wished that this had worked out to have specific items on an account that couldn’t trade, I died and could not bring myself to carry it on with such a high XP rate, it wasn’t for me. While wanting to try out realism anyway, that’s what I went with, and I certainly didn’t think I’d get this far!

 

gim deathkid: What made you start a clue only account?

Open Casket: I had watched a lot of Only trails at the time, and with a community like Alora we pushed for the changes that have happened with Treasure trails on this server, I wanted to make a progression series on this so I could showcase what we had all done and achieved as a server, Clues probably took a lot of time and effort to be updated to where they are now, so I’d like to try and motivate more people to do them and appreciate the rewards you can get from them.

 

gim deathkid: What are your ultimate goals for the account?

Open Casket: The ultimate goal is obviously to max a realism, though this goal is on par with collecting every clue unique, through clues and not impling hunting (I’m aware this is going to take a long time).
