As you don't need to be close to him to attack him, melee, mage or ranged protection prayer don't need to be used.

Climb down the ladder
and pull the lever
After you pull the lever, you come to king black dragon's cave, It's not wilderness anymore, and it's multi pvm zone.
Alsoa tip for those wanting to be able to enter the KBD risk free, log onto an alt and create an instance, and use any other boss room instance (most people use DKS) to avoid dying to any Lithuanians!
