Item Overlay Guide

By Moral Truth

Greetings gamers, and welcome to another guide!

This will be a short a simple guide on how the item overlay works, as well as the benefits of using it for your PvMing, PvPing, or skilling grinds.

As of the 7/12/19 update, an item overlay was added as a way to filter drops that you get from NPCs and/or from other players. That way, your game client is not overfilled with text for every single item that is on the ground.

To access this feature, first click on the wrench icon, then the last button on the bottom-right corner.

Spoiler

Once you are in the client setting, scroll down until you find a button that reads "Item Overlay Settings."

Spoiler

Below the Item Overlay Settings button, you will see a "Drop Value Warning" button, which is a different feature that lets you set a value (number) where you would like to get a warning when dropping certain items. To reset the value, just set it to 0.

For example, if you set the drop warning value to 3m and you attempt to drop a vote book with an exchange value of 3.4m (value obtained via examining the item), you will get the following warning below.

Going back on topic, once you click on the Item Overlay Setting button, you are given a blank interface.

You will also be given this chat interface.

Old method of adding items to the filter:

Spoiler

As of the 1/27/20 update, players can now hold shift to add and remove items from their item overlay list. This is a much more convenient method to use than the one mentioned above.

Spoiler

To remove an item or items from the filter, the old method would be to click the second option "Remove item from filter" and enter the item or items (divided by a comma). The new method is to hold shift (like with the method above) and click on the plus symbol of the item(s) dropped on the ground to remove them from the filter. The minus (-) symbol indicates that the item is not in your item filter, while the plus (+) symbol indicates that the item is filtered.

You can also set the minimum filter value instead, if you are familiar with the the exchange values of items. Just click on the third option "Set minimum filter value" and set the value. Items are filtered based on exchange value. To reset the value, just set it to 0. Once again, right-click the items and examine them to get their exchange value.

Lastly, you can clear all filters and you will be left with a blank filter, just like before. Just click on the fourth option "Clear all filters."

To exit the item overlay interface, either click the 'X' on the top-right corner or select the last option "Nevermind."

After using the item overlay feature, you can clearly see the difference!

Thank you for reading my guide. I hope this guide has helped you folks see more value loot in your drops. If you have a pile of items on the ground, be sure to right-click your pile first, as your unfiltered item(s) will not always be the first item(s) on top of the pile.

If you have any further questions regarding the guide, don't hesitate to contact me in-game or on the forums. :)
