Before you delve into my suggestion I would like to formally say hello! This will be my very first appearance on the forums of Alora.
I'm a new face in the community going by the name of Trailerpark (not to be confused with Trailer Park), I hope to see many of you in-game :)
Group Ironman Bank Rework
The Group Ironman Gamemode is one of the features that makes Alora unique and great.
Therefore it's imperative that the GIM Orb offers a smooth gameplay experience.
I have a few suggestions, that if implemented might help reach that goal:
Fast acces to the group bank via the Orb
Organizable bank
I will elaborate on the points below.
Fast acces
Spoiler
Currently you have to go through a two-step process to enter your shared bank.
First you must click on the Orb to open it.
That will open an interface with several GIM options. On that interface you click on the Bank button to enter the shared bank.
Even though this process is bearable, it's needlessly impractical. When you click on the Orb, you do so in order to open the bank 99% of the time, so the extra step is annoying.
Also, you tend to click on the items that you were going to deposit into the shared bank before clicking on the bank icon above.
This results in you using/consuming/equipping whatever item you clicked on during this interface - This will also close the interface.
Shortcut option
I suggest adding a shortcut option upon right-clicking the Orb, just like when you right-click an NPC to trade it, rather than going through a dialogue.
I hope my paint attempt gives an adequate idea of my intentions.
Organizable bank
Spoiler
The shared bank is pre-organized in 5 tabs. The Main tab, Food tab, Herblore tab, Resource tab and the Runes/Crafting tab.
The concept of the tabs is amazing. It's not hard to imagine what the shared bank of up to 5 individual players would look like without a system.
Yet, there is room for improvement.
A quick rundown of the shared bank:
The Food, Herblore, Resource and Runes/Crafting tabs are preset with placeholders of relevant items befitting of their respective tab.
But it is far from perfect.
First of all, the present placeholders only represent a fraction of the necessary items.
Secondly, the placeholders are permanent and immovable.
Example:
You as a group don't have a say in what items goes into which tabs; You can't put Black Dragon leather (The tanned version of Black Dragonhide) into your Runes/Crafting tab because there is no placeholder, thus it will go to the main tab.
Any item in the shared bank is, as mentioned, immovable. Any attempt to drag an item it will result in you withdrawing said item.
This makes it insanely impractical to rearrange items in the main tab, and directly impossible in the other tabs, due to the permanent placeholders.
The "Main tab" doesn't have any placeholders - it isn't even possible to create placeholders in this tab.
There's a limit of 100 different items stored in the main tab; items that enters placeholders of the other tabs are exempted and doesn't count toward the 100 item limit.
This limit is quickly reached without proper management of the bank. Especially in groups with high level differences; you might want to store some rune armour or yew bows for your team members so they can gear up with the best possible - as they level up.
Here are my suggestions for the shared bank:
Let groups manage the content of their tabs - or the tabs themselves.
- Make placeholders removable, and items movable.
- This could be spiced up with the opportunity to donate for more tabs.
Implement features from the individual bank.
- Such as locked items on/off (placeholders), a search function, deposit inventory/worn items.
Abolish the 100 item limit of the main tab and set a total max limit for the entire shared bank.
- A higher item limit could also be a donation option or maybe some sort of achievement to work towards.
Example: group total level of 2500: 50 new slots, or something along those lines.
Pictures of the tabs with some short notes:
Spoiler
Main tab
Notice how the dust runes do not go to the Runes/Crafting tab due to a missing placeholder.
You might also notice how wealthy we are. You may stop drooling now
Food tab
In order for a potion to enter this tab, it HAS to be full (4) . I would like to emphasize how annoying and impractical this is.
You can probably also imagine how Salmon, Bass, Tuna etc. becomes obsolete as your group levels up - would be nice if you could remove them.
Herblore tab
I bet you could think of a few Herblore supplies that you could put in here? Too bad sunny boy, for the time being they're going to the main tab!
Resource tab
A tab like this could become a joint "Resource + Fletching" tab with just a few added placeholders. Aaahh, the posibilites are endless.
Runes/Crafting tab
As I mentioned in the example - tanned dragonhide leather isn't in this tab, not to mention a needle, thread, a chisel. The list goes on.
Thank you for reading my very first contribution to the Alora community.
Feel free to leave a comment if you have any feedback to my post or the suggestion in general.
On a side note, please do not be offended by the group name.
The GIM orb right-click option to go straight to the bank interface would be a nice idea for quick access to the GIM bank. It's debatable, however, if there should be a right-click option to open the shop. It would be useful for players who access the GIM orb via donator zone.
As for GIM bank organization, I agree that the GIM bank at the moment is a hot mess lol. We should be able to organize the GIM bank without the default placeholders, as not everything goes into their respective tabs (like 1-3 dosed potions, tanned dragonhide, combo runes, etc.). Like any ordinary bank, we should be able to add/remove tabs as how we see fit for our teams. The 100-item limit for the main tab of the GIM bank doesn't need to be increased based on donator rank as not every team member will have the same rank. However, perhaps we can have an option from Paul to buy additional space with gp as some sort of money-sink relative to the GIM team you are in. I was thinking either 25-50m per 50 additional spaces (if keeping 100-item limit), or remove the item limit completely and pay 25-50m to add an additional tab into the GIM bank (maximum 6-8 tabs) and start off with 1 tab by default. But, going with the latter option would mean that everything from the pre-made tabs will move into the main tab, and you'd have to buy additional tabs to effectively organize the GIM bank.
These are just my two cents, but I support that the GIM bank needs a rework.
Support! I don't see any reason why this would be an issue. Not only would it just make the QOL of a GIM better it would give them no unfair advantage over other game modes. Great Suggestion!
