Glassblowing Guide
by Moral Truth
Greetings my friends, and welcome to another written guide.
As of the 05/11/2019 update, you are finally able to use the glassblowing method as another alternative to train the crafting skill.
Without further ado, let's get into what you need to get into glassblowing.
What You Need
Glassblowing pipe
For normal and classic players, to obtain a glassblowing pipe, use the command ::shops to teleport to the shops area, then talk with Bob. You can purchase a glassblowing pipe for 28 coins.
For ironman players, to obtain a glassblowing pipe, use the command ::shops to be teleported to ironman shops area, then talk to Paul. You can purchase a glassblowing pipe for 28 coins.
Bucket of sand (ingredient for molten glass)
Obtaining empty buckets
Normal and classic players can buy noted empty buckets for 3 coins each from the Shopkeeper at the south-west corner of ;;shops.
Ironman players can buy noted empty buckets for 3 coins each from Paul at ::shops.
Sandpit Location
Once you have your empty buckets, you can go to the sandpit in Yanille. Just use your bucket on the sandpit and you will fill all buckets in your inventory with sand. The other sandpit (e.g. Relleka) currently does not work.
Go to the teleport wizard, select City -> Yanille. From there, keep going west towards the west entrance until you see the POH portal (purple). The sandpit is directly north of it.
Alternative Method
You can also obtain buckets of sand as a drop from Kalphite Queen (via teleport wizard's boss teleports). They drop noted buckets of sand in batches of 100. Drop rate is is 1/31. You can find a Kalphite Queen guide by clicking here.
Seaweed (ingredient for molten glass)
The best way to get seaweed is as a drop from Kraken (via teleport wizard's boss teleports). They drop noted seaweed in batches of 125. Drop rate is 1/16. You need 87 Slayer to fight this boss.
Another method would be to kill waterfiends. They drop noted seaweed in batches of 10-30 (uncommon drop).
As of the 06/07/2019 update, there are more methods of obtaining seaweed.
- Konar's drop table:
- You can now receive 100-200 seaweed on Konar's drop table.
- Barrows secondaries:
- You can now receive 50-100 seaweed as a Barrows drop.
- Seaweed spawns:
- Numerous seaweed spawns have been added to Alora to aid with Seaweed collection:
- Waterbirth Island:
- A total of 19 different spawns have been added all over the island.
- Relleka (Rock Crabs):
- A total of 11 spawns have been added to Relleka's shoreline.
- Waterbirth Island:
- Numerous seaweed spawns have been added to Alora to aid with Seaweed collection:
As of the 07/06/2019 update, sand crabs were added into the game, which has a good amount of spawns of seaweed (and a bank).
- These crabs are located on a sandy shore south of Zeah, which can be accessed by using the Teleport wizard and going Monsters -> Sand Crabs.
- There are now a whopping 28 seaweed spawns along this shore, making it the best area for collecting seaweed at the moment. There is also a bank chest on the shore.
As of the 07/06/2019 update, you can purchase your glassblowing supplies from Trader Stan at the Port Sarim docks, which is accessible by all game modes. The fastest way to get to him is by going to the Teleport Wizard in Edgeville, select Dungeons -> Asgarnian ice dungeon, climb the ladder, and go north-east to the docks.
His stock, unlock other shops in Alora, goes down in number when people purchase items. These items slowly restock over time (2 per 30 seconds).
If you don't wish to grind for these supplies, the thermonuclear smoke devil drops noted molten glass in batches of 100. The drop rate is 1/31. You need 93 Slayer to fight this boss. You can find a thermo boss guide by clicking here.
You can also get molten glass as a reward from Theatre of Blood (ToB). You can find a ToB guide by clicking here. Thank you
Alternatively, normal and classic players can simply buy molten glass from the trade post. Whichever method you use, you may skip to the last step of this guide once you have your molten glass.
How To Make Soda Ash
If you have at least 77 Magic, you may skip to the next section.
To create soda ash, take your seaweed to a fire or cooking range, and use the seaweed on it. No experience is earned from this action. Currently, there's a bug where you require 90 Cooking to make soda ash.
How To Make Molten Glass
As of the 06/07/2019 update, you can now use the Superglass Make spell from the Lunar spellbook to make molten glass. Just use the command ;;thieve to teleport to the thieving stalls in Edgeville, and you can change your spellbook at the Altar of the Occult.
- Superglass make:
- The Superglass make spell can now be used to turn Buckets of sand and Seaweed into Molten glass!
- The Lunar spell requires level 77 Magic and 2 Astrals, 1 Air and 6 Fire runes.
- It grants 78 Magic experience and 10 Crafting experience per Bucket of sand used.
- You can used Soda ash, Seaweed or Giant seaweed as one of the component to be combined with the sand.
- It grants 78 Magic experience and 10 Crafting experience per Bucket of sand used.
- The spell provides a 30% bonus yield, so on average, players will receive 1.3 Molten glass per pair of raw materials.
- The Lunar spell requires level 77 Magic and 2 Astrals, 1 Air and 6 Fire runes.
- The Superglass make spell can now be used to turn Buckets of sand and Seaweed into Molten glass!
If you do not have 77 Magic, go to any regular furnace, and use your bucket of sand (or soda ash) on it to make molten glass. Base crafting experience is 20xp (before multipliers).

Once you finally have your molten glass, you can use your glassblowing pipe on it to bring up the crafting interface.
