Hello,

I would like to propose a new usage for Vials of Blood. I've gone ahead and run this idea by some reputable players prior to making this thread and it has received an overwhelming amount of support, so I decided to bring it to the forums. Please read the whole suggestion before coming to a conclusion.

 

Now, what I'm proposing is that you are able to destroy vials of blood in exchange for X amount of blood runes. Or, alternatively, you can use pure essence on vials of blood in exchange for X amount of blood runes. 

 

The only way to obtain Vials of Blood is through the Theater of Blood. They're an uncommon drop and you only get ~40 vials per drop, meaning that players don't usually have too many on hand. Furthermore, they're used for charging scythes, sanguinesti staves, and making bastion/battlemage potions. Given this, players will have to think twice about mindlessly exchanging all of their vials for blood runes.

 

Normal players already have access to an unlimited supply of blood runes through the store, so this update would be particularly helpful for ironmen (especially given that a vast majority of the players that run ToB are ironmen) and more so for those that have blood weapons that need charging. Yes, the theater already drops bloods, but the drop is uncommon, so the runes don't add up very quickly at all. Given all of this information, I see no immediate drawbacks and this update would be huge for ironmen. This is not a feature in OSRS but given that It's a private server, I think it'd be very fitting.

Fully support, I like the idea of using essence on vials of blood instead of destroying it for blood runes, pls make it in game @Omicron save ironmen lives!

There was a poll going about buying daily runes for ironmens by using runecrafting points, but huge support on this one too!

Normal players PAY for Blood runes though. they are a huge pain to bulk buy. Would rather see ironmens get accces to the rune stores as osrs, perhaps with double price or something else to slow them down.

I like the idea of being able to buy blood runes but it was suggested and accepted yet no work have been put into it...I think cus never heard anything about it.

No support. This doesnt make any sense in my eyes. Vials already have plenty uses as making potions from them and charging scythe.

The pain of buying bulk bloods does not compare to the pain of runecrafting bulk bloods sir

Support. Keeping charges on scythe as a ironman is struggle, since rc is basically most efficent way to get bloods.

 

Maybe what if scythe and sang staff would only require 100 blood runes and 1 vial for 100 charges when charging instead of 300 bloods.

I'd personally support this suggestion over your’s. As what @Joey mentioned, it would be nice if ironmen can have a limit on how much runes can be bought daily in Aubury’s shop. Wouldn’t hurt to charge rc points for them as there’s no other uses other than buying your rc pouches.

I agree wholeheartedly about the runes. I think I made the mistake of selling this as another use for vials rather than a way to supplement your blood rune gains, which is what it would really be used for lol

No support. I just dont understand the connection between the 2 things? As far i understand the suggestion it implies that vials of blood should be convertible into blood runes because they're both 'blood' and runecrafting takes a while?

 

Maybe I'm missing something but runecrafting is there to craft runes. So if you want blood runes you go runecrafting and if you want vials of blood you go to tob. 

 

The purpose of the suggestion seems to be to skip the runecrafting process? Which i dont support.

 

(If I'm misunderstanding please feel free to correct me - I'm a bit confused by the need/purpose for this suggestion.)

 

Also, I'm hesitant to support anything that isn't in OSRS.

Support, "Not being in osrs" is not an excuse to throw something out that easily. Can't use that excuse unless all kinds methods of training a certain skill are available. These kinds of suggestions are not a change to the core of the game but merely makes it a bit easier as long as it's balanced.

maybe making vial of blood a guaranteed drop on tob would be more useful. or make blood runes into vials of blood. blood runs are pretty common. however vials of blood are not. i like the idea though

Nope! Similar to how cox, tob, and barrows can provide a few extra blood runes whenever they do happen to drop, this is just a suggestion to potentially get a few more whenever you get a Vial drop. It'd merely be a method to supplement your blood rune gains, not a method to bypass runecrafting entirely
