What is your suggestion?:

Add the following forum awards:

 

1. High Quality Approved

Awarded for those who've reached 1,000 likes or more.

 

2. Award Hoarder

Awarded to those who've collected more than 25 forum awards.

(This award cannot be your 25th award.)

 

3. Super Poster

Awarded to those who've reached 2,500 post count.

(Must also have the cabbage cape + toy cat from the forum loyalty program for reaching 2.5k post count.)

 

4. Ultra Poster

Awarded to those who've reached 5,000 post count.

(Must also have the rainbow scarf + lazy hellcat from the forum loyalty program for reaching 5k post count.)

 

5. Good Samaritan

Awarded for actively reporting players in the correct section with strong evidence.

(Higher-ups will review your activity in the player report section, also taking into account which players have been warned/punished.)

How would this benefit Alora?:

I feel that not many people are active posters on the forums outside of events and update topics. I feel with these, it will not only increase activity on the forums, but also encourage users to post high-quality posts. The last award can be an incentive for players to use the player reports section more, but adding it in is debatable.

The poster awards aren't that necessary in reality.

I'd rather just have scaling userbars based on posts instead of a tiny icon that most people wont even care to notice.

Otherwise more awards means more people will be incentivized to work at getting them

I don't really care for these honestly. I understand wanting to get the forums more active, but all this ends up doing is enticing people to spam post in every forum rather than actually providing useful, quality posts. Seems like we could spend time working on more important features both on the forum and in game.

Both you and @Learn have made fair points. In reality, they are not exactly necessary, but I feel it does not hurt much having more forum awards, depends on what the awards are. There are a couple of forum awards that come to mind in terms of quality posts. There’s the Vocal award and Guide Creator award, both are decided by the higher-ups who gets those awards based on the quality of their posts and guides, respectively. There is also the Star award if you are well-known and respected in the community, again that would be decided by the higher-ups.

In terms of the post count awards, perhaps remove the 2.5k one and leave the 5k there? At the moment, nobody has 5k posts, but it is a nice milestone to reach for the rainbow scarf and pet, on top of a forum award. Forum awards do not take much time to implement, but I’m curious on both of your thoughts on how we can encourage more users to make quality posts on the forums. I can understand more post count awards may encourage spamming, hence why I also suggest a forum award for 1k likes. If a user does indeed post quality content on the forums, chances are their like to post ratio would be much higher than someone who spams on the forums. And yes, that’s coming from someone who has a ratio of about 0.87, so I know I’m guilty of the latter.

@Moral truth I just don't like the idea of a post count award in general. I think it entices people to spam post as much as they can to reach that number, and no one wants spam posts like that. I enjoy the forum being more active as much as the next guy, and I want people voicing their opinions, but I don't think that this will do much in the way of implementing quality posts.

I had suggested a forum award for 1,000 likes when I had suggested the Power Poster and Forum Junkie forum awards, but it got declined for whatever reason. I support them all.
