As most of you know , I am Smiv, the planker. I'm known for dying at many locations known for being quite hard to die at, in example; Dagannoth Kings, every Barrows Brothers', Chambers of Xeric, Theatre of Blood, basically anywhere you'd think Most people either do not die of die least often, I have done it there. Today I will be making a guide to give the do's and don't on either not planking, or hopefully planking!
1. Prayer
Spoiler
A vast majority of the NPC's in Alora are able to be blocked by the "protect from" prayers; Protect from magic - 37 prayer, Protect from range - 41, Protect from melee - 43.
These prayers will allow the player to resist 100% of damage dealt by a monster, or will help resist damage to a lower amount if it is a tougher monster i.e. General Graardor, Olm, etc.
With using Prayer you need higher prayer levels to withstand longer amounts of time at places. Was to better this are having a higher prayer level, bring prayer potion (38 herblore) or super restores (63 herblore). Another way to keep prayer points up are to were armor that have good prayer bonus i.e., Initiate, God d'hide armor / God robes, God books, Blessings, Ardy cape, etc. And a smart quick way to get easy prayer points back and get back to doing what you were doing is to do ;;thieve, quickly recharge your prayer at the altar, and get back on your way.
2. Paying Attention
Spoiler
As many people do, HCIM or not, Alora or OSRS, they have times where they will simple drift their attention to something else and their account will perish. (In my own example killing Torag and clicking protect range and looking away...)
Looking away from the screen for even a quick second could cause you to die. A good way to keep from this is to make sure you're prayer level is high so you won't run out with you didn't think you would or simply just teleport out of where you are and make sure you're not poisoned so there's no way you could die.
My biggest piece of advice is to have music in the background while doing anything in combat that could impose death on your player, and just be actively involved with the game. Then take breaks as needed to not get burnt out on any spot in game.
Now what we have been waiting for..
3. Planking
Spoiler
Planking is quite easy and simple, maybe that's why I like to do it. There's many ways to do it such as afking, multilogging looking at the wrong account, killing something and then your prayer drops, etc etc, anything can happen.
In my personal experiences, I find it best to plank at places where it is harder to plank, barrows, dagnnoth kings, Xarpus on ToB, anywhere you can think of I'm sure I have. Planking has many negatives, but also a fun positive.. The memes. Though many negatives are losing HCIM status, possibility of losing items, paying to get untradables back, or fixing barrows equipment.
Though the memes are fun, if something happens even involving the topic of maybe something you died from, then someone brings up your name and you turn famous! So another pro a guess you could say that people will like you and talk to / about you more!
A previous death at barrows on my elite ironman when I would grind that here which if you didn't know was my discord avatar quite a long time.
After reading this, I hope this saves you at least once on your journey through Alora and hope you won't plank like I do!
Thank you for visiting my planking guide! If you have any ideas to help the guide! Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!
Very nice detailed guide. Definitely will try to follow it when I make a HC account. I see that you have personal experience with it, so it must be 100% true what you wrote, too!
Thank you for your input to make this guide. Unfortunately that you have experienced this yourself. I hope that this will prevent other players to plank in the future and I would try not to die!
I will tell you how I planked multiple times. I would say at Theatre of Blood I have planked 1 time of an average of 5 raids. I haven't paid attention to my hp which caused me to plank. Look at the bright side, I'm not Mob or you at Theatre of Blood so I won't be planking as much as you do. Anyways, I will try not to plank in the future by using this guide.
PS: Can I borrow your Ancestral set? Thanks a lot!
