Due to the severe increase of YouTubers & normal players advertising their videos, or giveaways, or thread links via Yell system, it gets quite tedious and annoying having to witness the spam of these advertisers every 30 seconds or whatever it may be.

I suggest that we implement or adjust the old rule where players are no longer allowed to AFK yell messages.

That is all.

Agreed, it's incredibly annoying, I wouldn't mind seeing it if it was every 10 mins or so.

Should've always been a rule; there's no possible way to fully moderate it other than to treat it like other forms of advertising.
Plenty of people have used their YT channels to support other servers along with the current server they are playing on which in turn creates this dynamic where players are looking up your channel and being drawn to your off-topic content (other servers).

Where as posting your videos in the video section of the forum posts an embedded link to the video and any further clicking from the consumer is at their own discretion, meaning if they truly are interested in watching more videos of the user they're watching, then they physically have to click past the embedded link and begin surfing the channel, where as the current system, players are advertising their channel that could potentially have 1 Alora video, and 50 Ikov videos (using an old closed server as an example) which in turn may draw the viewer toward Ikov.

Agreed 100%, It's super annoying to witness youtubers that keep spamming the yell channel with " OMG GIVEAWAYS EJIEDJIWEJITHRREAD;404202031291" Like, Comon.

I completely agree. Sure youtubers should be allowed to advertise their videoes when they are promoting alora and gaining us players. But when they do it for their own or other servers benefits its super annoying, especially when the giveaways they do are fake. (Yes, i am talking about you Merk.)

I'd love to see a rule which lets you advertise on yell every 5-10 minutes.

I think its start to be annoying to see someone constantly yelling about their giveaway especially when they have left their account spamming it with a autotalker and I think this rule should be implemented.

I agree, most of these spammers don't actually give away their items and just use the tactic as a cover to gain free subscribers. Very annoying.

I'm not sure what would be required to implement this, but I have a suggestion.

  • Make it against the rules to advertise your stream in ::yell. There would be exceptions, like the EIM tournament yesterday where Lowkey streamed the event.
  • Add a command in-game called like ::streams that would allow any player to see what streams are currently active on youtube/twitch/whatever.
  • Streamers can be added to the list for the command via the forums by giving their channel URL.
  • Then, add a little chat message passively like the little Alora tips that come out every once and a while in the chat box saying something like "There are currently x amount of people streaming Alora! Check them out at ::streams"

The idea behind this is that both the streamers and the community would be okay with the result. Streamers can sign their streams up with Alora and still have a way for people to find their streams, and players aren't constantly spammed with their streams in ::yell.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, the Yell system is extremely over-used and flawed. I think this is a massive contributor to the over working channel, so yes I support completely.

Seeing as

  • Members may not use world yell to advertise clan chats with the exception of the server clan chats such as Alora, Help, and Help1. Group activities are acceptable. This includes gambling chats, clan chats, etc. First offenders will receive a warning, followed by 24 hour mute, with the ending result being a 48 hour mute. If a member has been given direct permission by another staff member, they may disregard this rule.

Is an active rule and I've yet to see it enforced at all, I don't really think this rule would get enforced as well but ya never know.

I stand by this 100%, I haven't been on the server in a while but I do vaguely remember constantly switching over to game chat to avoid the eyesores that were constant advertisements.

Support.

Or even limit it once to every 10 minutes, seeing as everyone spams Jay's stream when he's streaming.

I totally agree. It would fix continuous spam in the yell channel.

Strong support. Especially when certain players are spamming ;;yell advertisements for other servers on a autotyper timer.

Support. This gets really old, really fast. Especially when they carry the advertising over to the direct chat @ home. Yelling is overused anyways, I don't want to sift through more clutter when I could come to the forums and look for somebodies video if I wanted to watch one. I get tired of sifting through typical shenanigans as it is, for example: pvmers getting upset that a pker killed them and the flaming that occasionally comes with it. I don't even bother when people start spamming, I just turn off my chats or go play a different game.

Also wouldn't be so bad if I could actually ignore people as well as have it carry over to yell.
