Just throwing something out here as an suggestion so @Omicron and any other admin+ can get an idea out of this, also regarding this thread: http://www.alora.io/...ge-2#entry94183 posted by @Lowkey.

People suggested a lottery but that isn't really a money sink, maybe you can add it in another way.
This is the original idea, price is 10m and for example 20ppl donate 10m in the lottery, that's 200m in total, 1 person will win the pot, that's how it suppose to go.

But what if there would be a tax on here too, 200m is the pot, someone wins it and the total of 200m will be reduced with like 1 to 10%, rather see 10% in my opinion or 1/2% less so they wouldn't win 200m but 200-20=180m.
The 20m will be permanently removed, this would be nice to see, also people will lose some money and no one will really notice that they've lost 20m from the total pot because donating 10m and winning 180m.... You wouldn't really notice that.

Something in that direction would be a nice feature.

Another suggestion would be a gambler npc somewhere where you can use an item on or minimum 10m and this npc can double it or you'll lose it , he'll be using like a dice, there would be a higher chance to lose than win to get the idea of some sort of money sink, also a chance to double the item/gp, not as big as losing though.

Let me know what you think, just throwing stuff out there for 'money sink' ideas.
Also feel free to add your own money sink idea.

I would shy away from the Gambler NPC idea. I tried that once and I wish I had never even dreamed up the idea. Brought way more gold in than it removed.

- Could make a cosmetic shop, Scythe or other sought-after untradables. Could make the price something like 50m or so. Enough to be attractive enough whilst still maintaining the idea of a money sink.

"he'll be using like a dice, there would be a higher chance to lose than win" Wouldn't this be less of an incentive to use this NPC though? Not bashing the idea.

The Well of Goodwill is another alternative to money sink.

Options through this...

  • Increasing GP pool required for the bonus
  • Lowering the bonus experience time duration

Could combine my idea to a gambling idea. Add some cool cosmetics that aren't currently available normally to a specific NPC that sells a "Mystery Box" that contains different items. I don't know just spit-balling some ideas. The majority of the one's that I used won't work as I had a 718.

I like this idea, whilst the Server already has mystery boxes, adding things that aren't normally obtainable but are very rare is quite a good idea.

Edit; Possibly add something like a raffle? rather than money

Construction has a great ability to be a money dump.

A max cash pet would be pretty funny, like a golden sink following you around lol

Some type of expensive cosmetics and other non game breaking stuff would be cool to see...

-----------

A weekly raffle would be a great method of removing wealth - half the pot could be removed from the economy

I've seen on previous RSPS, is an NPC with untradeable cosmetic rares.

You'd exchange in items to this NPC to gain rare shards, effectively removing them from the game.

You can rotate the untradeables throughout the weeks. But, only problem is that I'm not sure how sold this server is on custom rares.

Doesn't necessarily need to be customs. Use items that are already available in the game.

Scythe if not already obtainable, Skeleton suit, Chicken suit, etc. There's tons of options for non-tradable cosmetics that could serve a purpose as a money sink.

- Add a tax to converting GP from gold to platinum.

Bonds turning untradeable after trading with a % fee to make them tradeable again.

Degrading armour and weapons, Barrows equipment, Crystal equipment, Abyssal tentcale, etc.

I like some of the ideas from the comments above, I think untradeables shop would rid a decent amount of gp.

I dont really like those gambling ideas. This server has way too many gambling addicts already. I like the untradeables shop tho.

This is perfect and would make a lot of sense, would stick to osrs ways as well.

Yes to lottery with a tax on the winnings.

No to a a system (gambler NPC) which has the potential to create new gold/items.

Construction has a great ability to be a money dump.

I always thought the Ring of coins would be a good money sink if it costed slot. Too bad it's already in the shops.

The tax idea is a little harsh, this isn't real life now, so let's behave...

Make a money sink which benefits the players, otherwise what is the point? Edit the well settings, potential cosmetic shop (all of the OSrs holiday items EXC ones already in the game)

LMFAO I JUST CAME ON FORUMS TO SUGGEST THIS

A 50/50 draw every 24 hours, you pay postie pete, get him working. It would get rid of half the money put in, with no limit. And it would be everyday so it is an excellent money sink.

Dont agree with the gambling npc because its not a guaranteed money sink as the first suggestion.

Even if it was a 45-55 or 40-60 odds the amounts people gamble will be different.

Example being someone losing 10m and someone else winning 100m.

edit: Ironman shouldn't be able to use these features.

But for the first suggestion.. 100% support.

I very much agree with this post. Though a scythe is a current rare and expensive item so adding that would ruin the price of those who have it currently.

It would be cool to have a cosmetic shop with (sexy) items that are untradeable after purchase.

I know this is kind of dead, but I needed to resurrect it because of the TP tax idea.

What I propose is we use the aforementioned untradeable ideas, but give some incentive to buy it multiple times for the benefit.

What I think we should introduce is a "Spec Stone" or a ring. Untradeable at a certain cost.

The function of it would be to reset the player's special attack, useful for PVMing.

Restrictions are as follows:

* Has 8 uses

* Destroys itself on the last use

* Can only be used once during boss slaying/fighting monsters (No infinite specs for Corp in one sitting for example )

* Cannot be used whilst killing players

I'd like to here your guys' thoughts on this. Is it a yay or nay?
