From the time ive spend on the merching account back when i use to run Mtam.. i personally thing its greedy for users to not want this fee introduced..

For someone like myself who relied on the trading post to make a living ingame i feel like its extremely greedy to see someone to vote no.

It might seem like a big step but ive merched on server even with a 5% tax. The only thing that gets effected of this is that higher volume items arent going to be price manipulated for such small margins. Other items wont be picked up as easily by merchants & as a result the price will stay as close to the supply & demand line instead of the regular buy/sell line.

-----------------------------------------------------

tl;dr?

its greedy/selfish to vote no/small tax.

we want the economy to grow in all aspects.. how are new players going to get items to play when they are soo inflated that its almost as daunting as osrs to obtain.

This server also lacks in a wilderness community due to the prices believe it or not.. who is going to grind thieving for 2hrs at 90+ just to obtain (1) ahrims set.. not including any other of the required gear just for 1 trip..

I agree with @Darkz, marching is getting out of hand considering vote books are now going for 4m on the TP when two weeks ago they were ~2.5.

As for the wilderness, I think it will remain dead whether or not the tax is approved.

Not a bad idea as long as it's a flat tax.

Do you even know the consequences of the huge amount of new items hitting the game? U'll litterly end up like a server where 300B is nothing, and the economy is ruined. Fine ur an ironman, and maybe thats why you dont see it, just because you dont trade on a daily basis.

I know about ur post where u said answers are so short, so why dont you please explain to all of us why you are so much against a 2% fee?

I'm not the person in conversation here, but ironman are more than welcome to have valid opinions.  By the way, any tax on high end items such as partyhats, spirit shields, twisted bows, etc is going to have a huge impact on sellers. If you take 5% to a 2b partyhat you are looking at 100m tax. Maybe if a formula is worked on for items over 100m not to get taxed or imposing a limit of 1m on tax, or just have the buyer get taxed instead seems more of a fair option.  To me it makes more sense to find a way to tax the buyer or just find another money sink instead.  The seller shouldn't get screwed over for the overall convenience the buyer gets.

Also don't ask why I used 5% as an example, because that's the majority of y'alls votes for those who do want a tax.

EDIT:

No support.

Maybe we could come up with alternative sink ideas than a tax on our beloved TP

:P

This is sound from an economic standpoint. Deadweight loss isn't as prominent if a tax were applied on the TP because the economy is amassing money at an alarming rate without any checks on it. Interesting to see how this plays out, but people voting against it should understand how the tax would affect the economy in the long run.

However, as mentioned above, some other money sinks such as raising the cost of barrows and making it degradable, as well as tentacle whips (maybe) would come in very useful in the long run, considering the amount of people who pk with them.

Also maybe put a cap on the max amount of tax possible, say from 5% for lesser valued items, to maybe 5-10M tops for items 1b+

Just my opinion on how this could benefit everyone in the end.

I think it makes sense to implement a tax. Around 2% seems reasonable. While this is a good fix, I think we should also look critically on ways of bringing new money into the game. Things that come to mind are treasure chests and thieving. I understand that we shouldn't strip (new) players of their only way to make money, but preventing the creation of new money feels just about as logical as adding a money sink. Are there any plans/ideas to tackle this too?
