Hi Guys!

Before I get any toxic/negative reactions on this topic I would like you to actually think about what I am about to say. There are defenitely more solutions for this problem and I am aware this will have a very high impact on the economy.

I think everyone has seen the exploding prices that are currently active, this because of the merching/flipping of items in the trade post, which I am part of myself as well. Coins are in my eyes almost worthless right now. Where one could buy a bandos set for 25-30m 2 weeks ago, it is now being sold for 70-75m. Pegs/prims 30m, now 60m etc. it's like everything is now double/triple the price.

I think there are two solutions that could help:

1. Less giveaways. This might sound stupid, but lately I have seen a giveaway almost every day worth 100's of millions GP, there are simple too many items being pumped into the economy.

2. Put a limit on the tradepost for items. E.g. max price for blowpipes being 30-40m  and a minimum price of 20-25m in tp. This way items are forced to be sold in the Trade post for a certain amount of money.

I think it is important for a server to have a great economy, and a server where no one can currently price check an item because it fluctuates too much or skyrockets too much is not a server with a strong economy.

I know I am an iron man, but I made a regular account and managed to flip from 20m to 500m in only 2 days (whereas I did stake it) by only using the trade post, says enough about how prices are unsolid right now.

Once again this is the biggest and most effecting suggestion I have ever placed, but I think something has to be changed.

So this happend today 20 june 2017:

I support that there should be less give aways,
but i dissagree by the fact that items should not be sold for more than a certain price in the tp.
we get loads of new players every day and,
maby it is posseble to increase respawn timer for bosses for a certain time.
the more items ingame, the less the price...
maby this problem can also be solved by making private rooms 50% cheaper for a certain of time.

sorry for my english, haha :P

I agree with everything but the Trading Post limits,

I wonder what the rest of the server has to say about this.

Yes I agree an decrease on the time bosses spawn could help with this. When bosses spawn quicker this would mean more bosses get killed during an instance and there'll be more drops in-game. More items in the game would decrease the value as prices are determined by demand and supply, this could help indeed and be a different solution. We have many players joining the server every day indeed.

  • No items in any giveaways are spawned in.
  • Putting limits on tradepost would just make people trade outside tradepost ? ? ? So that would just be a waste of time.
  • Server has a good Economy there is 600 players on a day imagine the 100s of new players thieving that brings money into eco so obviously prices are going to rise if more money is coming into the eco daily and that doesn't even include casket drops from pvm/slayer.
  • Prices are not Exploding they are rising due to high demand of certain items.

Support on the less giveaways part. Gotta earn that money.

I am aware items don't get spawned in, I disagree with the economy being 'good' at this moment. There is high demand for some items but then again this should be solved by more items being in-game as there currently is too much demand, which could be solved by what Gabbertje just said.

I could not agree more with the giveaway things, everybody and their mothers is making 50-100M sometimes even more off a giveaway, which ruins the point of the game as you skip huge sections of content.

However - all the items are legitimately gained. None are spawned so it is not increasing numbers of items and as Cuddeh said, demand is rising as more and more people everyday reach requirements for specific items.

I definitely understand what you are trying to say - but pragmatically I really never see it coming into the game. This doesn't mean this suggestion is inadequate.

A more worrying situation would be if items are being pumped into the economy it would cause the prices to drop, meaning items become worthless and gold becomes the most valuable. Gold is still clearly valuable as you do need X amount to buy items. High items both shows that a small proportion of people own a majority of the items and are able to sell them for high prices.

I really would not worry too much. This isn't hyperinflation in Germany after WW1, prices rising is good, making PvM and content more profitable for those who actually play the game.

However - the amount of giveaways of specific items ruins the game for some. Ex - if a new player takes part, wins 250M - the guy can have maxed gear and skip playing 95% of the game how it is supposed to be done. Maybe giveaway rewards should be cash, rather than items. Food for thought. Maybe giveaways should now have untradable items which admins are allowed to spawn. pls no customs..

But these ideas, will make the community stronger and better.

You have some solid points.

Also, if an item limit were put into place (i.e. you can only buy x number of items every 12 hours) that may also help.

Maybe..

  • 1000 total level 1 high-item/12hr
  • 1800 total level 2 high-item/12hr
  • 2100 total level 3
  • maxed 4

etc. just a thought though.

I couldn't disagree more with this entire post.

Giveaways aren't spawned in items but from people with enough wealth to share.

TP limits wouldn't help at all for a few reasons such as gold concentration in the economy, and people trading outside the trade post.

Prices can't stay the same forever when more people are joining, the thieving stalls are constantly pumping gold into the economy, etc.

When I first started Alora, i thought to myself these items were cheaper than they should be because I was able to get nearly max gear in less than a week.

In my opinion there is nothing to worry about, the prices will go up and down as always. If someone is hosting a giveaway, i understand the fact that if someone new wins a big amount of money it'll take away the grinding factor of earning it yourself, but however it could also give a good base to work with and skip the basic start if you're an advanced player.

With the whole idea of 'Put a limit on the tradepost for items', i personally thing thats not necessary, if an item is in demand a player will definitely pay the money for the item as of current worthiness.

I don't think there should be any limits quantity or price-wise for the trading post.

Best way to get a healthy economy is through free market.

If you'd limit blowpipe to be between 25m-45m, people wouldn't sell it on tp anymore soon enough and then tp becomes obsolote.

I'm the person who does most of the giveaways. Nothing is ever spawned for giveaways by myself or staff so they were already in the economy.

People enjoy doing the events and it gives people something different to do.

I know a couple of people have had ALOT of certain items and they are not selling them they are hoarding them which is the problems. They know who they are.

I'd say maybe Put certain items in shops but not at a low price... Example being you could have a blowpipe in the store for 45m If you really need one you will buy from there and it adds 1 of them in the eco dropping the price down.

On a regular basis I'll buy 20-30 whips and go around giving them to people who don't have one but half the time I'm buying from a merch who has around 10-15 in tp which is becoming a bit of a problem for people with less cash.

I do agree that there should be something done however the 2 options above do not work for me.

No support. Sorry

I'd love to see prices level out as well but not sure how well it will be achieved with the above suggestions.

So I want to update this topic, it would really be useful having the price limits, atleast minimum prices as I just sold 12 eternal boots for 35gp each by accident.... :(

Reading through this, there have been some excellent points made.

I agree with @Tobbo and @sklp and the points they made.

Within the first week of me playing i saw so many giveaways winning 1 myself and don't get it twisted it felt pretty cool to win 40m straight away but i also think there was way too many.

This is for pet events and not player run events like Tobbo did the the other day.

I hate to say it Haze as you know i love you but i do honestly think you should have took more care when placing them eternals in the TP.

You made some very happy people by rushing the offer.

I would love to see prices level out though, i mean fair play merch away but some people are taking the absolute piss when i see certain things 50-100m higher than a week ago.

Most likely will take some time too though as Inferno is only around the corner which will bring so many to the game.

BE CAREFUL IN THE FUTURE!

I am a economy worker by nature, and this would just ruin players who did that. As mentioned before, we'd just buy out the tp and sell by trade. No support.

Yep. There is no need to change the game because of player error. People make mistakes and consequently, learn from them. The system is flawless, it is just the players themselves.
