Had a thought. Just like in combat you have a chance of getting a casket drop from your kill, which when opening the casket you will be rewarded some GP.

What about the same casket system but for skilling. So while doing whatever skill you have at any moment you could find yourself a tasket, this would help put some profit into skilling.

Now there could be 2 options - Caskets can only be found when doing gathering skills(WC,Mining etc) or caskets could be found in any skill.

Thoughts? Your ideas? Hate?

I've been away awhile now, so maybe there are some new ways of skilling bringing in some nice gp gains - But I remember that there was always the issue that skilling was terrible money making.

I kinda like the idea considering sometimes your spending money on skilling, so getting some GP back while skilling would be nice.
Idk if it should be all skills or just "gathering" ones like you said. Either way nice idea.

Yeah. It'd be super nice if all skills offered this but I had the thought of "Would it even make sense finding a casket while making a potion or cleaning a herb or cooking food etc."  While it does make sense finding a casket while doing gathering skills.

I think it very well could be customized based on skill. For instance you could do the following for these skills:

Fishing - Coin Bottle

Woodcutting - Coin Nest

Farming - Coin Pouch

Considering how much I unload on farming trees (although I generally make it back in herbs), it would be nice to have something that tips the scale in favor of earnings ^_^

This is cool as long as fletching agility or fishing don't have it or the rate is really low . I could see somebody fishing and banking mantas in dz until they have 1b worth of caskets lol

No support reason why:

Skilling supplies have a certain price but if all skillers get more money while skilling they have a bigger amount of money so they can buy by example buy rune bars for a higher price as now so only prices will rise...

It sounds like a nice idea, but idk how nice it would be for the economy so I'm neutral about it

I'll be honest and I didn't think of the abuse of this... However, I will still support this for the skills that currently don't produce MUCH of a GP gain because it would be a nice incentive to continue to train them.

It introduces a nice way of skillers being able to make a nice profit, instead of being forced to focus on one skill just to make your money you'd be able to train your favourite skills with somewhat a decent rate. Now caskets don't have to be supper common, in no way am I suggestions like 5 caskets per inventory. Hell no.

But the reason "Oh, a price may rise if more money comes into the game" .. confused me a little bit?

If prices rose because more GP is coming into the game, technically nothing has exactly changed.

Let's say you are buying mithril bars at 5K ea and making your money from selling raw mantas for 2.5k ea.

Because a new way of GP coming into the game was released these prices have gone up. Mithril bars are now at 10k ea and raw mantas are now at 5k ea.

Where would the difference be? You're still make exactly the same, apart from the numbers may be a little higher.  But my example is some exaggerated change and I 205% doubt it'll rise doubles, although there will be some prices which may go up, but I couldn't see this being anything negative.

--- What if say, combat was to have another way of making a bit more money? Would you support that idea just because it's combat related and not skilling? What would be so bad about having another way of skilling making a bit of extra GP? Do you feel like as of right now, no other ways at all should be released for money making? Do you believe we should have money sinks before anymore GP is coming into the game?

-- As of right now you could just set-up an alt to afk some npcs to casket farm -- Caskets which would come from skilling would be harder / slower obtaining than it would be from combat. --

As someone who prefers skilling to pass the time Support, it's not that combat isn't fun, I'm just one to sit back and enjoy doing....well....skills.

This is why I support this still. So many people are forced to do 1 or 2 skills for money as skillers lol... at least give everyone a way to generate income doing the skill they like ^_^

This. Back before I took a break if anyone wanted to make some money a different way than combat every answer would of been teleport to ;;thieve and start making money there. A couple new skilling methods have came out since, but still nothing which is worth doing if you're looking to make money.

I also didn't put any exact information on the caskets you could get from skilling, so I'm sure some people will instantly assume that they'd have to be just as easy as combat ones. GP Caskets from skilling could be real hard to find one but reward nicely - Or they could be somewhat common but give less gp than the caskets from combat.

I think the really hard to find ones would be PERFECT for skilling... Think about it, you are grinding something for a WHILE anyway, whereas in combat you might just be doing a few slayer tasks... maybe some bosses. It would be neat to have a casket that is (maybe not as rare as a pet), but something that is announced so that the people going for 200M in skills have something to aim for goal-wise.

But it would also be nice to have more frequent caskets for those doing some quick skilling or for the HCIM/IM that need to make some coinage.

Massive support.

Making money skulking is very long term. I don't see much money in most of the skills I have trained, mining is Okay for selling bars but very long winded. I'm currently sitting at around 1k but need to get 8k coal to actually make money from the bars.

Exactly, and currently it's good money selling bars, but if we are thinking in the long-run then bars will slowly decrease in price as the server sees more growth and more people mining/supplying. Yes there will be more people smithing, but I don't think it increases at a 1:1 ratio. More people somehow brings down the prices because more people smelting + mining outweighs more people just smithing (which they mostly only do to 99 anyway for that max goal).

So it would be nice to have some consistent money for now and in the future!
