Not posting in suggestions since it's not an actual suggestion, but rather a discussion.

How would you feel about more custom Items/NPCs/Bosses/Minigames being added into the server?

I've generally seen most people get incredibly disgusted by customs in my history in the private server community. Typically because they were usually really ugly in their modeling and fairly over-powered in terms of their uses. I personally really enjoy them when done well.

Purposely play severs that don't have customs. Never will play one that does. Like the one server with "Voldemort". And the models that are just so ugly in color/disproportioned sizes. No thanks. I'd like to think Omi knows better than that to ever add them to this game, imho.

I agree with the statement above 100%.

We strive to sync with OSRS. I can definitely say that we won't have any customs in the future. At least not to a noticeable extent, such as armour, etc.

Only customs i would like would be pre-eoc items like PVP armour but even then I'd rather not.

Not a huge fan of customs; QoL updates and bug fixes would be nice tho.

I've seen that a lot on here that the server strives to sync with OSRS.

I've enjoyed a few projects that have added them in immensely, but most programmers and modelers in the community don't quite have the talent it takes to make custom items well. I remember one server I joined had a colored whip that did 10 more max damage compared to normal and teleblocked players, basically killed pvp.

But, I mainly wanted to see if the view on customs had changed over the years, seems it hasn't. It's kind of a shame, I always kind of had a pipe dream of a server that basically emulated older RuneScape extremely well minus quests and then added in it's own custom content to expand the game further. I once even did a kind of mock-up of a Skyrim-style enchantment system for servers even though it required a complete overhaul of the way servers handle and save items going from an ID system to an actual object-based system.

Thanks for the input, though, everyone!

Because I was curious.

And not necessarily. I've seen them done decently in a few servers here and there, though most don't understand game design well enough to actually add them in a way that won't kill their economy or the balance of combat. Most of that coming from how volatile the economy of a RuneScape server is and the game design not being of their own.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of customs myself as I think it makes the server look quite unprofessional and messy especially when added on an OSRS server.

However, I don't see a problem with adding a custom minigame. After all we are a RSPS. Copying OSRS detail by detail would be rather boring.

I would love to see a custom minigame as I'm sure that would attract more people as-well as making the server standing out for unique content.

I'll say it again, I'm a fan of customs when they're well done, which they usually aren't. But, that's why this is a discussion and not a suggestion.

Custom minigames and bosses are certainly a lot more popular though. Mostly because they're fairly easy to make due to all of the unused assets clients have as compared to modeling and animating an entirely new item.

Not a fan of customs. A couple I would like to see though would be pet for the skills that don't have them, 200m capes and potentially a Completionist cape.

Like you said customs are great when done well. certain weapons and armour would be horrible but things like 200m capes would be a big thing for the server.

Seeing the way Regular osrs is going (Yes I know this isn't osrs) I wouldn't be suprised if more updates come that people want from there (That are like new customs) . Customs I don't mind as long as the game doesn't become tooo OP

If they're ever added, I'll be happy that I'm an Ironman. In my opinion, customs ruin the look and feel of the game so it's always been a solid no from me.

I like the aspect of emulating runescape and giving it an own touch.

Custom visables are a no go for me.

Wouldn't be bad.

Like you said customs are great when done well. certain weapons and armour would be horrible but things like 200m capes would be a big thing for the server.

I think I need to clarify that when I say customs, I don't really mean add in swords that do up to 80 damage per hit and heal the wielder, I just mean additional content that doesn't appear in OSRS or in RS at all. That might be fairly broad, but I don't know how interested people are in deviating from the vanilla RS features since I always wanted to work on a server that would emulate RuneScape and then expand on some of it's lacking areas.

Seeing the way Regular osrs is going (Yes I know this isn't osrs) I wouldn't be suprised if more updates come that people want from there (That are like new customs) . Customs I don't mind as long as the game doesn't become tooo OP

Again, they don't have to be more powerful than existing content or even combat related.

They very easily can. I kind of enjoyed the customs in a few of the servers I've played but I do still remember the old delta servers with fucking blunts in the shops. Just depends how much effort is put into them.

Custom visables are a no go for me.

What do you mean by custom visables?

I'm not a fan of customs, but if they're done properly - and in tasteful way then it can certainly have it's place in my book. Obviously nothing game changing, but there are always improvements that can make the server more enjoyable for all.
